How the heck do I get movement??
My hair is....stiff. Always dry-looking even though I completely pamper it. It never has swing to it, especially when I straighten it. What do I do?

what kind of pampering have you given your hair. My hair is stiff when it was damaged. I thought i was doing all the right things, but i was just making it worse. make sure your hair is moisturized just not overly moisturized. get products that help define the curls. i like kccc, and i have tried quidad climate control with great results, but it has some cones in them, so i cut it out of my routine.
Just keep working at it, you'll get it. Good luck!

How often are you straightening your hair? You've said you think you're doing "all the right things". That may be, but if you're routinely straightening it, that could be why your hair is seemingly damaged.

maybe you need to do a herbal rinse. i love doing this! my next "thing" im going to try is stinging nettle rinse, its meant to help with shine and softness, help with growth and scalp problems....... i think im going to pick a few handfuls and boil it in water for 10 mins let it to cool then strain it out and use it after my shower, ill let it dry in my hair for a bit.
i havent tried this yet, but its on the top of my list for next week

My hair is definitely damaged right now from all the colorings, and I straighten about twice a month, if that. However I can remember that even when I was younger, my hair still didn't really swing. It may have been due to the fact that it's so thick, or maybe it's because my hair is so protein sensitive? No idea.
Fmas - I haven't heard of an herbal rinse, but I should look into it! I wouldn't even know where to start though..

i love using natural things in my hair, i use these herbal rinses as a final rinse n just let my hair dry with it in, all you need to do is choose your herbs, (i would choose herbs that would help any "problems" maybe your hair is dry etc.) pour boiling water over the herbs, let it sit for 15 mins then strain it and let it cool.

My hair was the same way growing up. AS i got older and learned how to take care of my hair, i realized it was because of the damage, mainly from heat and coloring, but also form using alot of the wrong products. You should focus or preventing further damage and finding the right produtcs and see what happens.

Is your hair very fine? I have a friend who has fine low density hair and she has this same issue. Her hair just doesn't have enough weight to swing even though it is long. If your hair is fine and not very dense maybe you could try products that give your hair some weight.

My hair is fine, low density and around chin length--no problem getting it to swing. I agree with thelio, it's probably the products or the health of your hair.
