Default Help!

[QUOTE=rrkacey;1785180]I started co-pooing about 3 months ago. The first 2 months, my hair looked awesome! I'd get compliments all the time. This month, however, my hair has been dry and frizzy. Idk why! Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do? I'm a 3b that co-poos and I use a microfiber towel to dry. Help!

Did you change conditioners? What are you using?

It sounds like you have build up on your hair.. are you sure the conditioner is free of all types of silicones? What about your styling products?

Have you done anything else to your hair?

If you figure out that it's a silicone build up, you'll need to clarify. It might however be that the conditioner you're using is heavy in protein which can make your hair feel dry and frizzy.

Maybe if it's the latter, you can just move to a super moisturizing conditioner.

Good luck!

My hair gets "bored" of conditioners so I alternate. The conditioners I use are Garnier Fructis Pure Clean fortifying cond., Catwalk curl collection Curlesque hydrating cond. by TIGI, wen cleansing conditioner in sweet almond mint, and Jessicurl deep conditioning treatment. After washing, I use either Ouidad's moisture lock leave in conditioner or Catwalk by TIGI's curls rock amplifier. I then use Ouidad's Climate Control gel. Should I use a clarifying shampoo?

I had the same issue 6 weeks into mod CG. I realized I have low porosity hair and build up. It wouldn't hurt to clarify with baking soda/apple cider vinegar rinse and see if that helps. Good luck!

if your hair is anything like my hair it changes with the seasons. Its not that your hair gets bored with condish, it just need different things at differnt time. In the summer, i dont need as much mositure so i got back on mositurizing condish, but the winter is another story.

Also quidad products have some (not a lot, low on the ingredient list) silicones in them. so you may want to get a clarifying shampoo.

Also, when it seems your hair is getting use to a product, that could be because of buildup. i would suggest trying to cut out all silicones and see out that helps. And as cubad curl pointed out your hair may be sentive to protein. cut them out and see what happends. good luck!

I use Shea moisture products and my hair loves it . I did the BC about 3 months ago and I've tried a lot of products and Shea moisture worked wonders but then again my hair is extremely short.

@allnaturalchick where do you get the Shea Moisture products? I don't think I've seen them before.

@thelio the clarifying shampoo worked, but the frizz is back again. Even though, I did do a few highlights and lightened my base color, so that may account for the most recent frizziness. As far as weather changes, they're not so drastic here (it was around 74F yesterday and it's Nov 13th) so I don't know if the weather would still affect my hair. If anything, it should be getting BETTER now that it's not so humid.

The Wen has a 'cone: Water, Aloe Vera Gel, Glycerin, Chamomile Extract, Cherry Bark Extract, Calendula Extract, Rosemary Extract, Betientrimonium Chloride, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Cetyl Alcohol, Emulsifying Wax, Panthenol, Trimethylsilylamodimethicone, Hydrolyzed Whole Wheat Protein, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Menthol, Sweet Almond Mint Oil, Peppermint Oil, Citric Acid, Methylchlorisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance. It's not water soluble. So, unless you're doing some type of clarifying shampoo on a regular basis, it could be the causing the build up and frizz. I'm not familiar with the ingredients of some of your other products, so they could have cones, too.

Many of us rotate products because our hair satiates on continued use. I've never heard that satiation causes buildup on otherwise CG products.

While you may not go through extreme temperature changes, you may need to factor in dewpoint changes and add more moisture to your routine when the dewpoint is lower.
