what does aloe vera do to your locks?

I've noticed a few products have changed their ingredients to add aloe vera..
3b/C with nicer curls on the bottom!
Hair: naturally very dry and VERY porous
hair seems to be moody.
Does not seem to like oils
Does not like protein or too much?
Does not like rich products

So, I ask myself. What does it like? That is the question, and I'm on a mission.
I've tried aloe vera gel on my hair, but my hair hates it. It felt like there was sand in my hair when I applied AVG to it.

My staples: Mane n Tail (cowash), Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine (leave in condish), Grapeseed oil or shea butter (sealing), Organic Root Stimulator Elasticitea (leave-in condish & light hold)
I love it, espectular for curl definition and softness.

Aloe vera juice/gel is supposed to be great for adding moisture and for clumping curls. My hair doesn't really want to clump on its own, but if I add AVG to my conditioner and leave it on my head for about 10 minutes--I get clumps.

AVG hasn't worked so well in my leave-ins, but I'm not ready to rule it out. I have to play around with the ratios a bit more.

Do you do this only for wash n gos or have you tried this with twistouts as well? Do you use any kind of oil to seal?

I noticed Tresemme Naturals condish does not play well with AVG.

But I love AVG. It's my staple. I use it more in the summer because in colder weather it can get a little crunchy. It defines my hair without giving it that "super gelled" look, makes my hair soft, and I also use it slick back any frizzies.
Hair type: Mostly 3C, medium porosity to high porosity depending on the day, dense, fluffy, dry, tangly!

I might try mixing it with my eco styler and with conditioner...
ive made a AVG gel, and its amazing, i mean amazing, my hair loves it, makes it so soft and defined, and fizz free, clumps nicely....... adds richness and tames it just everything i added quiet a few other oils to it so it moisturises as well

my hair: 3c, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)
my hair loves conditioner only styling!
my hair goal length is bra strap length when curly.

I also blog about my hair journey, please feel free to read and comment/ask questions http://www.naturallycurly.com/blogs/...air-blogs/2494

Hi all, I'm new to the curly world and I'm learning so much. Still don't know my hair type yet, but that's another story.

What exactly is clumping? Does it do better with thick hair or thin?

I use aloe Vera juice a lot and it makes my hair soft. I think its a Ph balancer which my hair needs obviously. I put it on after I do my final rinse, right before I apply my leave in and my hair clumpy and soft.

I use Aloe Vera in my refreshing spritz and in my eco styler gel. It makes the gel go on better and it's a tad softer.
I use oth aloe vera gel and aloe vera juice. The AVG I use in my Eco Styler custard mix (which contains AVG, Clear Eco Styler gel, and coconut oil) and the AVJ I use in my KimmayTube Leave-In recipe (which contains KCKT, AVJ, 1tbs. each jojoba and EVOO).

My hair pretty much hates aloevera anything! My hair gets super dry even with a leave in and it's a mess to detangle. Ive tried in in different ways but it always makes my hair feel like a Brillo pad!
Love my auburn 3b/3c curls!! Favorite products are Treseme Naturals conditioner and DevaCare ArcAngel(<---miracle for definition!) I really just want to GROW MY HAIR OUT!! It's not really working...

There's a fine line between using too much AVG and too little. When my hair was bra strap length, I was using approx. 2 tbsp on my hair. Now that my hair is chin length, I have no idea how much to use. Yesterday I used a tablespoon and it was a little too much.

The right amount of AVG will make my hair more defined, offer shine, control some frizz, and offer a little bit of hold. Too much AVG will make my hair feel crunchy/crispy.
