Would you please look at my roots?
2 Attachment(s)
I know you guys have been asked this question a thousand times, but you have such great eyes!
Would someone mind telling me what kind of hair I have? When I run my fingers up the back my roots are very soft and smooth. My fingers don't get caught in my curls until I reach the middle of my head. The top of my head is a bit thicker but I can feel my curly new growth under my straight ends. I've attached two pics: one fom the top of my head and one from the back. If I did it right I have pics of my new growth in my signature also.... |
To know what your hair type is you'll have to wait until the permed ends are cut off, the permed ends weigh down your hair and although your hair may look one way before you BC or grow out . . . it may look entirely different once the chemically altered hair is gone.
Instead just focus on transitioning with good products, moisture retention, minding your ends and trimming them occasionally, and of course transition styles help too. |
I agree with the poster above, but if I were to guess based on these and your other pics I would say 4b. HTH

There is no way anyone can tell what hair type you have when you have relaxed ends attatched to your hair in such an abundance.
The hair being soft and smooth is really irrelevant. The hair being soft could be just the nature of your particular hair texture. You could just be a person with silky natural hair. But that in itself doesn't give any clues as to hair type. All hair typing does is tell you what SIZE the curls are..nothing more. All these other "characteristics" that folks claim about such and such hair type is bogus and yes even some of them on this website (LOL). Not all 3b's and 3c's are silky. Two people with 3c curls can have hair that feels totally different. One can be coarse and wiry..the other can be silky and smooth. But both of them can have 3c curls. |

To the OP, no offense to you, but this question comes up a LOT. |

To the OP: Personally the size of the curl really isn't important. You'll certainly know what the size is when/if you BC. Just do everything can to baby and nourish those roots. If they are 4b like they look like they'll be to me I'm sure they'll be beautiful. If they end up 3b or c or whatever they'll be likewise beautiful! Good luck and enjoy your hair! On my EVO |
And I hate when it does come up because it always becomes a "That ain't no 3c, that's a 4 something" like one is better than the other. It becomes a "better than" deal with a lot of side eyeing. God I hate Andre Walker for creating this divide!

I was more surprised because hI thought it was one thing and was using thread wrong tips to take care of my hair. I've since moved past the typing and just used a little bit of everything to figure my hair out. I really just wanted to take care of it I the proper way for my soon to be daughters.
