Is there anything to expedite growing out my hair
This summer I got my hair cut to right above my shoulders curly from having it past the back of my bra strap curly. It was nice for the summer. For the fall I got some layers added into it to see if it would give my face some shape and that didn't go well. Now I'm hoping to grow my hair long again with no layers. I miss it and prefer it much more. I felt pretty with the long hair without the layers. Now I feel like my hair is too awkard shaped into a pouf ball. Is there anything I can do to expedite the growing out of my hair? X-mas is coming and my birthday will be the first week of January and I was really hoping to look good for those days.
From my understanding your hair growth is programmed in your DNA just like everything else. But, that doesn't mean you can't take full advantage of that predetermined rate, right? If my genes say, "Grow .5 inches a month," then I want ALL of that .5 inch
-Healthy, balanced diet
-Good blood circulation, via exercise and scalp massages
-Biotin is believed to help (I thought it did). Don't expect hair down to your butt though.
-Omega 3's are also a common held belief to help. Ground flaxseed anyone?
-Be kind to your hair to avoid breakage and tears.
Um, yeah I think that's pretty much it. Not a ton you can do to increase hair growth, but all of these things no doubtlessly would make your hair healthier.
From my reading, hair grows an average of 1/2 inch per month, 6 inches per year. Some folks faster, some slower.
There are things that will impede hair growth and benefit it, and it tends to be the same things that improve growth/health in general. Eat well. Rest well. Manage stress.
I've heard that consuming gelatin will help with hair and nail growth. I think that goes back to eating enough protein. Protein is a key component of hair, and if you don't eat enough (low protein diet), then that could impede natural, normal "your rate" hair optimal growth rate.
I know my thinning hair (menopause, hypothyroidism) got fuller when I changed my diet, adopted more nutrition (lots of fruits/veggies) and upped my protein intake. I can't take biotin--I break out--but I've seen some folks talk about its benefits to hair.
If you want to optimize growth--do the things that optimize health in general, eat good protein sources, and make sure you aren't missing any vital nutrients in your diet.
And if you don't have medical issues, look into hair growth supplements, like Ultra Nourishair or Biotin, etc. (Again, only if your doc is okay with it is my rule for strong supplements.)
I you skimp on nutrition, eat poorly, don't rest well, get overly stressed, don't do good health stuff, yeah, that can mess with your hair.
So...be patient...and take good healthy care of yourself. :D
im made a "growth Booster" thats based on water that ive infused with herbs. i used marshmallow root, rosemary, sage tea tree and peppermints oil. i message it on my scalp everynight. i dont know if its doing anything yet, its just an expiroment, but i plan on doing it for 3 months.
