whats going on with my hair?

My hair is having issues!!! >_<

I really love Kimberly Perry's hair, and am looking for curls somewhat near that -

But my hair is doing something weird...I have long hair about 4 inches past my collarbone with short layers to about my ears. It's type 3a and very thick. Usually I scrunch it wet with curl-creating cream. I flip my hair upside down and scrunch, then back up and reeeally scrunch my upper layers, trying to get Kimberly Perry's look. But it always ends up with this weird curl pattern. The curl starts at my scalp going out, and then curls in and then the ends of the curls wing out towards the sky, and it does this all the way around my hair evenly, like some sort of crown on the top of my hair. It looks ridiculous. And then the rest of my curls end up having this crooked curl pattern, like it's tight 3b curls half way down, then it goes horizontal for an inch and then 3a down. It looks awful!! I don't know if this makes sense..

Since I can't get it looking good, I tend to just straighten it... I've tried everything, upside down pineapple (I think that's what it's called), plopping, french braids, hair spray, gel, mousse, every curl product on the market.. But nothing will get my curls to work!! BTW, this is only during the winter. During the summer, my curls look great! I can't get them like Kimberly Perry, but they do look good (refer to my profile pic).. But during the winter it's impossible! I can't figure out why..

Thanks for reading this long post!! Please help me soon, because I'm about to give up on my curly hair and do a Brazzilian Blowout or something!!!! (even though I know that's horrible)

Since your hair is only acting weird in the winter it's probably the products you are using that don't work well with the low dew points. Try using anti humectant products.

I agree with britney. You probably need to use some different products. You might need more oils too. I recently gave up on my HG and tried Kiss My Face Upper Management and now my hair has totally turned around.

Hmmm ok I'll try that.. What do you suggest for faily high porosity, normal elasticity, type 3a, thick hair?
