This may be a stupid question but...

Okay I've been CG for about three months now and will be getting my haircut in a few days. There aren't any CG hair stylists in my town, so I'm just going to a normal hairstylist that probably works mostly with straight-haired people. I'm not getting a major haircut, but will just be getting my layers trimmed and maybe sidebangs (I'm stilll deciding about that. My hair is mostly 3a, but the last time I tried to get sidebangs about a year ago, they literally turned into these shrunk up 3b ringlets. I didn't really know how to take care of my hair at the time, so just imagine really tight, perfect ringlets in the front of my head and the rest of my hair being a frizzy, undefined mess. They've grown out some, but they still curl up quite a bit more than the rest of my hair. Jeez, that was a really long backstory...) Anyways, I haven't gotten my hair cut since I've gone CG, and I was wondering 2 things-

1. Should I shower and style my hair the day I get my hair cut so my curl pattern looks the best?

2. Can hairstylists tell you are not using shampoo? Since my hairstylist is just a regular hairstylist, I don't want any weird or awkard question about not using shampoo if she can tell I'm not using shampoo. Does that make sense?

Oh and I also have a few picture of my hair attacted, just in case anyone has any advice about whether or not to get side bangs.

Those side bangs are a great look.

I have never had a stylist say anything other than "wow, your hair is so healthy. what do you do?" and then they immediately want to wash it with sulfates and 'cones

So now when I go to the stylist I take my own products for them to wash with.

Thanks for your reply! So you really haven't had any awkward questions from stylists about not using shampoo? Just to clarify, you are just going to a normal hairstylists, right? Not one of those Devacurl people or whatever?

I'm not really that concerned about 'cones they might use. I'll just clarify when i get home.

I like those sidebangs too! I'm just not sure how my hair's going to react to being cut like that...

One more thing. When you get your hair cut, do you wash and style that day before going or do you go with second-day hair?

I wash and style the day I go. If you want the side bangs to look right, make sure she cuts your hair while it is dry, otherwise the stylist can take off too much and you end up with little short curly bangs.

I go to a regular stylist. If I am just getting a trim, I will let them cut it wet. If I am making any change I ask them to cut it while it is dry. HTH.
