Does your hair move?

Hi,
I'm new to these boards. Pretty sure I have type 3c hair. I've been growing it out since March of last year and have been getting used to it being curly (relaxed it for about 9 years before this) It's a little past my ears right now. But one thing I didn't like about my hair pre-relaxing and now that I'm growing it out is that it doesn't move! Anyone else have this problem and have tips on fixing it?

After I wash it, I just let it air dry. I don't put any product in it other than some moisturizing oil, but it drys out and balls up like an afro. I end up putting my hair in a pony tail most of the time when it's curly.

Anyone have advice or know of a thread to direct me to? Thanks
Hi, I have the same hair type as you but my hair is now past SL. Let your hair grow and you will see it move.
One advice is, when your hair is dry, apply a spray made with water, vegetable or pure glycerin, a squeeze of conditioner and a few drops of your oil.
Spray it in your hair daily and you can see it more soft and will start moving.

BTW, post some pictures.

My hair 'moves' I guess.. it's floppy even at shorter lengths. Is your hair very thick or coarse? If it wasn't very mobile even with a relaxer, maybe that's just how your hair is...

My staples: Mane n Tail (cowash), Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine (leave in condish), Grapeseed oil or shea butter (sealing), Organic Root Stimulator Elasticitea (leave-in condish & light hold)
When I relaxed it, it would move, it was just so thin! I think my individual blades of hair are thin (or so I've been told by a stylist) but i have A LOT of hair. And when it dries, it dries up and out. I don't know how to classify it in terms of porosity/texture/etc. I'm still new to that part.

Another thing is if I use a flat iron, it will flatten out really well and move, it's just a problem when it's curly.

I've tried to stay away from gels and mousse, I don't like the crunchy, sticky feel and I've heard that mousse dries out your hair. With that said, the last time I used gel in my hair was in middle school pre-relaxing era. I am open to trying any products. I really want my hair to feel natural, not bogged down by products, regardless of how many products I actually use.

I'm uploading pics. Basically washed my hair, put some moroccanoil in it, and let it air dry.

Thanks a lot for all the help! I am relatively new to all this and looking forward to the journey that comes with having curly hair again!

Your hair is cute!

My hair is fine too, and I also basically just wet it, slap some oil and conditioner on it and go. It doesn't feel crunchy, and it blows around in the wind if I leave it out..

Of course it doesn't "flow" like straight hair, but it does move.. I don't know why your hair wouldn't/doesn't move.. sounds like a mystery.

thank you!! yeah, from looking at your avatar, I think we have similar hair. I haven't tried putting conditioner in my hair after showering, but I'll try it and see how it works.
Definitely let us know..

Today I wng'd with just a palmful of oil applied to wet hair.

i tried it and leaving conditioner in definitely helps a lot! by the end of the day, my hair was slightly frizzy, but nothing like it used to be! thanks for the advice
No prob.. glad to help, and glad it worked out for you.

I don't often have much advice to give about hair, but it usually follows this same pattern: apply conditioner and oil, comb through, air dry.

A little. But it doesn't blow in the breeze.

I'm about 6months post relaxer. My hair still moves and blows in the wind. Could it be the products that you use? Are you using heavy things?

It's an odd thing. When I had locs THEY blew in the wind! I guess I don't have the length/weight for it to be blowin' yet.

Maybe she has light hair. It's weird, but if your hair is really light it might not blow much. If its kinda wiry (like mine) it may not move much at least until it's longer. In some cases weighing it down WILL make it move.

I don't know. Hair is just weird and so unique (and AWESOME) from head to head.

Cosign with bekka poo.. make sure youre applying a leave in dont over-do it though. My hair is fine as well and I apply mine on soaking wet hair to help evenly distribute it. Seal with a (natural) oil & youre good to go!
..when my hair is properly moisturized it moves the most!
