Default No curls at the top of my head?

Hi! I was wondering if any of you know how to get my hair more curly and voluminous at the top of my head?! It always seems that my hair is more wavy at the top and then super curly at the bottom and the under layers! If you guys have any tips please tell me! Thanks!(:

Depending on how long your hair is, it could just be the weight of your hair pulling the roots down (I have this to some extent). Have you tried clipping your roots? Here's a great thread with lots of pics:

Default me too!

I have the exact same problem. I am going to attempt going cg to see if that helps. I'm about a week into cg and I do see a little improvement. I guess the key is to avoid weigh down?

I used to have the same problem, but I apply my rinse out upside down and detangle upside down. Then I rake my products through my hair upside down and scrunch. After this I plop for twenty minutes, then diffuse upside down. So basically I do everything with my head flipped upside down. I now have great root curl and volume.

I have tried clipping, but it hardly ever works for me. However, If i only want volume, I put gel on the clips then put them in my hair. This gives me good volume though not as much root curl.

I have mid-back length hair with layers. Hope this helps.
