advice, opinions, something???
So, I have 3a hair when it behaves.
My boyfriend and i have decided that i have fine hair...but there is a lot of it. As far as porosity, its hard to determine. I tried the float test but it didnt work very well. When my hair gets wet, it takes a while for the water to soak in and then it usually sticks to my head in the shower and after.
My question is this...what experience do you have using olive oil on fine hair? I got Palmers Olive Oil conditioner and I am afraid to use it. I know I need some sort of treatment. My hair is limp and lifeless and the curly are pulled out. Also, it does not respond to my normal products anymore. Gels dry it out, Dove mousse makes it greasy, and it gets horrible buildup very easily.
I'm fed up with my hair right now

Hi CurlyQ, Before I go for a haircut I always google "curly hairstyles for medium length hair". A ton of photos come up and I try to find a curl pattern close to mine in a style I want. I print the photo out and take it to my "curly cut" hairstylist who cuts it dry. Good Luck.

CurlyQ, when did this "behaviour" happen to your hair? Have you already tried different things? Could it be necessary to clarify maybe?

agree with rapunzel - also could be needing some protein.

I have clarified but it didn't really work. My hair routine used to be very low maintenance. I would shampoo regularly with suave products and then use mousse or curl cream. My hair dresser said my hair was healthy so the sulfates didn't really bother it that much.

Your hair could probably use some protein. As far as the olive oil, I haven't tried it. I also have fine hair but a lot of it, and my experience has been that I can get away with using products that other people with fine hair can't because the thick density keeps my hair from getting weighed down as easily.

I can use olive oil without problems, but not too much too often. Hasn't the Palmer's co. got mineral oil in it? (in my country it does, I think) I would worry about that more than about the oil.
It could also be that your hair doesn't react well to some ingredients in your products. Maybe there are sillicones or other ingredients with sealing qualities in one of them. Then they can prevent other ingredients to work properly.
And I would certainly try to add some protein to your routine.
Hope you find a remedy soon!
