Putting it up

I've always found curly hair more complicated in that if a day comes (like 2nd or 3rd day hair) that my hair just doesn't want to work with me and I don't feel like working with it, I can't simply toss it in a cute ponytail. Usually I do a headband (to try to hide my halo frizzes) and a scrunchy bun but I'm bored with it and it really doesn't look all that great. Plus it puts a lot of dents in my hair and the headbands give me a headache if I wear them all day.

This is sort of what my do looks like but mine isn't as nice

So I was wondering if any curly friends had any suggestions for a quick style to keep hair out of my face when needed

Well when I'm not feeling my curly hair or it doesn't go with my outfit (or I just want a change) I'll put it up in a bun. I looked up some videos on youtube for cute curly updos. Basically put your hair into a pony tail. Then, using bobbypins, individually pin several strands of hair near the pony tail and leave a couple strands to frame your face and you will end up with a really cute curly bun. You can add a headband or clips if you want. It will look something like this:

Not as fancy though obviously. You can experiment with the result and see what works for you.

Another option if you don't want to do a full updo is to put half of your hair up in a pony tail and leave the other half down like this:

I also think putting your hair in a side braid on the 2nd or third day works really well and looks great.

I have some mini combs that work great to pull small sections of hair away from my face, or I use spin pins to put my hair in a bun. Today I used both to do a kind of messy bun. Took about 2 minutes to do. Here are the results:
