Yes, it can get very overwhelming, but I also get how frustrating it can be to post a question and not get a response. For me, I'm hesitant to post a reply if I'm not sure I have the answer. As far as your hair concerns, I can offer my two cents, but since I've never experienced that issue I don't know if my advice will help or not. But here goes:
I would say your is likely to need major doses of two things: moisture and protein. I don't know what your hair properties are, but based on the heat damage your describing, those are my suggestions. The protein should help repair the damage, and moisture to balance it out and hydrate. I would also venture to guess that your hair may not ever be as curly as it used to be, until the damaged hair has grown out and you get new growth. As far as product suggestions, I've heard of some protein treatments you can get at Sally's, or you can make your own (I've read of people using gelatin). And then I would use very moisturizing products. If you're on a budget, I really like TN moisture or GVP CB. I've also heard good things about Ion effective care as a RO (has protein and moisture I think). Whatever you end up using, just be prepared for it to take some time and a lot of TLC. HTH - good luck!

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!
I agree with everything the previous two posters said, but will throw out another possibility that could be contributing. At what point did you start to notice that your hair was straight? Is it straight through the whole length or is there more wave near your roots? You don't indicate your age, but you mention that you had 2c/3a hair as a kid. If you went through puberty (or any other major hormone swings like pregnancy or thyroid issues) this can also impact wave pattern, and if you were straightening your hair through all of it, it might be something that you didn't notice. Heat damage is a much more likely answer, but I did want to mention this also.

Sorry your questions weren't answered. Unfortunately, people get tired of answering similar questions over and over again--especially when they are about "individual" rather then "general" topics that could apply to many. Sometimes, there can be several concurrent threads about the same exact topic.
Questions that get few responses are: "What is my curl type??" "HELP, I'm new and desperate for help!" and other similar things.
You've gotten some helpful advice. Two other important things to do are to determine your hair properties. It helps people give you good information. Here's a link to help Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics The other is to read the stickies at the top of the forums. There's a lot of great information there that will help you with your hair (and with using the nc.com Curl Talk boards.)
