Default Are you proud to have curly hair? :)

Curly hair is pretty even though I have wavy hair.

If you would have asked me before the CG method, I would have said no. That I hated my hair and wished it was either straight or wavy. Now that I'm getting to know my hair better and how to work with it, I feel like yes I'm proud of it. It's looking and feeling better than ever.

The clue to me being proud of my curls is in my siggie name, lol! Before joining here, I didn't really know how to care properly for my curls, and didn't have anyone to turn to for advice on technique/products, so my natural hair was the bane of my life (I liked my curls, I just didn't know how to care for them!) I've learned such a lot from NC.com already and am continuing to learn from all of you knowledgeable curlies (you learn something new every day!) So nowadays, I'm well and truly a proudcurlygirly!

I have been CG for only 5 months, if you had asked me 5 months ago I would have told you i HATED my curls. Seriously. They were the thing that tortured me MOST. I just grew up in a house where I was the only curly (out of 10 people!) and no one knew what to do with me. So I just straightened it. What made me go curly was my DH. He actually has 3b/3c curls and he convinced me that my hair was beautiful. I gave it a try and my hair went from 2b-c to 3a with some 3b! It's crazy!
Now I am very proud of it. I have a big personality and my hair fits me.

Its been a long journey but it was totally worth it. I am the odd adopted looking one in my indian family of soft black hair. My mom did a good job taking care of it when I was younger but I went through the horrible jr. high/highschool phase of flatironing my hair to make it look like them much loved straight hair that was such a fad. Well in ninth grade I had swimming class and everyone thought I had a perm! Well lets just say it really opened my eyes haha. I am just love them more and more everyday. And as bad as it sounds, everytime my mom walks and tells me I am crazy for having all these hair products and spending so much time and energy into my hair I cannot help but smile and tell her its complicated in the most amazing way. I think only another curly girl would understand why I have such a well stashed aresenal of products haha.

I agree with LoLuv and HoC. If you'd asked me before November I would've said, "Curly hair? What curly hair?" and smiled at you from underneath a sea of flat ironed strands. Now I'm thrilled! It's so much funner being a curly.
