I have hair that's a little longer than my shoulders; it's unruly and hard to manage. The photo attached is my hair on one of its good days. It's always frizzy and putting products on it makes it greasy.
I'm seriously considering getting a pixie cut for a change and for something easier.
Will the 3b curls be straight when short or will they just become tighter ringlets? Do you have any advice on mousses/hairsprays/products to use that can make my hair easy to manage when cut short?Has anybody had a successful pixie cut with hair like mine?
I don't want anything that'll turn out to be an afro, or that'll be poofy. When my hair is long the top is rather straight/wavy because it's weighted down: when short, if combed or moussed, will it still curl in ringlets or will they just flick up?
Help much appreciated :)
i had a pixie years ago (hair had to be cut off from too much bleaching). it was straight for the most part while short and i used a pomade (american crew at the time, not sure of any CG pomades because i don't use one). it grew out in ringlets and i would use the pomade and it would make the longer hairs curly.
good luck with your big chop if you go for it. it can be really refreshing!
I think your hair would be very big and poofy if you went short. I think you should keep length to weigh it down a bit. Plus your hair is beautiful!
Too much conditioning, and product isn't for me either. I don't know if you're going the highly natural route (which does mean putting up with a little more frizz), but using a shampoo with a lighter silicone further down on the ingredients list like Dove, or the new Clear Scalp. For products, I personally can't stand feeling producty in my hair. Regular Aloe Vera is good for light hold, CurlKeeper is good if you can buy stuff online (though there's a trick to using it), and I like the new Clear Scalp Shea moisture scalp oil. You can only use a little, but its smoothing and not heavy and although it contains mineral oil, there's no cones.

I think a curly pixie would look absolutely adorable on you. Short hair can be easier to care for and quicker to dry, which makes it especially fun in the summer.
