Default Newbie here! :)

Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to this website although I have been CG for a couple months now
I have what I think is 3B typed hair, maybe with some 3A parts underneath. I'm not so sure about the typing but I will post a picture when I get home of my hair so you all can see.
I want to know what everyone else is doing for their hair. I used to co-wash only but I noticed some build up so I started using SheaMoisture shampoo once a week in order to prevent that.
I don't know if my hair is thick or if there's just a lot of it but there is so much volume! I love volume with curly hair as much as the next girl but I prefer it on the roots, not on the sides where it sticks out like a triangle. If I use a strong hold gel, then it sticks to my head and gets crunchy. And THEN when I try to SOTC, it frizzes up. haha
I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for products or methods to help me with that.
I would like hold, definition, and less frizzies. Thanks

Hair properties are more important then curl type when determining ingredients/products to use. Here's a link to help you with that Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics Once you determine your hair properties look for others with hair like yours and see what they use (in signatures.) It's the best place to start.

How should I go about determining hair properties? I did tests like holding a strand up to the light or seeing if it floats on water but I'm still not sure if I'm accurate. I just uploaded a picture of my hair

Check out this link that's on the naturallycurly website. this helped me determine my hair properties and I have had great results since. Also, I would suggest checking out Waterlily716 on youtube. She had lots of good videos on product reviews. I decided instead of worrying about products because it can become overwhelming to just use what I had but to try a different routine and it helped out alot. For instance, I use DevaCurl No-Poo, just started using Tresemme naturals conditioner and I LOVE it, DevaCurl AnGel and plopping. Everybody's hair is different and everyone's routine is different. Her videos also show you how to co-wash and how to apply product and it's been very helpful. You should check it out
