I've heard different things about what the best way to brush 3a hair is but they all seem to be different. What is the best way? Also is there any brushes that people find help frizz and broken hair? Any ideas?? Thanks

It's generally much better to not brush curly hair at all--only wide-tooth combing when washing/styling. Brushing will cause breakage and frizz, not make it better!

Gretchen and curlypearl like this.
APL 3A
Medium porosity, medium density, medium thickness
Current routine: Daily co-washing with Giovanni conditioner (whatever is on sale), styling with Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier, and 1-2x per week cleansing with a Chagrin Valley shampoo bar followed by an ACV rinse
I tried using a wide toothed comb but it just made my hair worse and all 'puffy'

You shouldn't be manipulating your hair at all except when it is wet. Doing anything at all to it after it is dry will cause fluffiness and loss of definition.

You are beautiful!
I'd also like to know this answer! I use a wide tooth comb but I get these unruly hairs within the bigger clumps of curl that like stick out from the hair. It's as if they are trying to escape and don't want to curl with the rest of the hairs.
I think I have found the answer. Now I only brush my hair when it is wet. I know it sounds wierd but during the week I don't need to brush my hair, I simply put my hair in a plait/braid before bed and so my hair doesnt get tangled and my curls are alot better. ONLY BRUSH YOUR HAIR WHEN IT IS WET. And I use a tangle teezer by the way. Thanks for all your help guys!!!
