Default let's try this again....

so I tried going CG a couple years back and it was kind of a disaster and a lot of money spent. i know i have 3a coarse and low porosity curls. can anyone recommend products for me. RIght now I use suave hemectant shampoo and conditioner or sometimes the lush godiva shampoo bar with moroccan oil and the moroccan oil curl defining cream.

My hair properties are different, so I'm probably not good for specific product recs. But, if your hair is course and low porosity, you'll want to avoid too much protein and make sure you use products and techniques that will help open the cuticle and allow moisture into the hair. You might want to check the low porosity forum to look for product suggestions.

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

Hi! I believe we have the same type and texture of hair. I find jessicurl to be a good product if you want soft bouncy curls. Her deep conditioning treatment is the best deep conditioning I have ever tried. I haven't used anything else since I started with it. I like the "confident coils" with leave-in conditioner if you have very coarse hair. Otherwise, the kinky curly collection is great. Especially their leave-in conditioner and curl custard. Aren't lush products full of chloride and sulfates and stuff? My last tip if you feel like the CG method is too expensive, is to make your own flax seed gel. I know it sounds hippie, and I am the kind of person who believes in STRONG HOLD, but flax seed gel really works for me. You can find youtube videos on how to make it. It makes my hair more shiny, keeps the curls together and gives second day hair.
