Advice needed

So I have been doing the CG method for three weeks now and it was going great but now my hair is looking limp. I have low porosity, long hair down to the middle of my back and it looks like my curls are losing definition, looking stringy and flat on top. I have spent so much money on all different kinds of products from watching YouTube videos and these boards. I eel like I need to start from square one but I don't even know what that would look likeAdvice needed-imageuploadedbycurltalk1347062548.460170.jpg this is a picture of what my hair is looking like. Ay advice would be helpful I'm feeling pretty down about how my hair is looking. Thanks
What products and techniques are you using? You mentioned low porosity- do you know your hair's texture?

I am now trying this week CO washing with suave naturals and using Shea moisture to condition, leaving some conditioner in my hair leaving it wet, finger combing in the shower, then using Shea moisture yucca milk, shea moisture curl smoothie and Aubrey organics b-5 gel and letting my hair air dry. At night I put my hair in two braids and pit some Shea butter masque overnight. I have been CO washing just about everyday and once a week using the Shea moisture shampoo.
My hair is thick, mot sure if that is the texture but I can basically floss with a strand of hair if I needed without it breaking
So I just did some research and found the live free curly website and now that I'm glad to find my hair is protein sensitive and every product I'm using contains protein I am not sure if I should jump for joy with this eureka moment or cry because of all the products I have spent money on and can't even use. So now where do I go from here?
Wow. Are you sure about the low porosity? My hair analysis came back as normal porosity and I don't think my hair could handle that kind of moisture. It's definitely possible that your hair has become overconditioned.

Protein sensitivity typically manifests as dry, straw-like feeling hair. There are some people who will have have a different reaction- their hair will become almost straight and very soft.

If your hair is limp and loosing curl that's a sign of being over conditioned, not protein sensitive. If anything, I'd add protein--do a PT.

My hair is fine and I can floss with it without breaking, too. It's not a good determiner of texture. Here's a link with visuals to help you determine your texture Curl Junkie - Natural Hair Care for all types of Curly Hair!: My 2 cents on Protein/Texture/Porosity/Moisture Balance! :-)

I'm pretty sure about low porosity, it meets all the criteria. How would I know if my hair is over conditioned?

My hair is low porosity. It would never absorb all the product you're putting on your hair in a normal day--especially in the higher dewpoints.

My other question is do you use the same products all of the time??? Many of us rotate products. My hair has always satiated on products, even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom let myself use any one product more then once every five days.

I still think a PT would help, but I'd switch up the products, too.

Ok I just looked into hair being over conditioned and that sounds about right too. All this hair stuff is super overwhelming trying to understand my hair.
I do switch up the products. I have tried Giovanni, la looks, kinky curly knot today fantasia, aloe Vera etc... It takes a while for my hair to absorb anything so I was doing a deep treatment masque every nit to sleep thinking since it was low porosity it wouldn't matter if I did that, could that be the cause
Yes. The overnight treatment could be overkill if you're doing it daily. I spent my first month of CG believing that I needed to avoid protein and became over conditioned. Started doing PTs and my curls perked right up. That was why I ended up buying the hair analysis. It turned out I was completely wrong about my hair properties. Once I started treating my hair based on the correct properties the results became much more consistent.

So you recommend the hair analysis? I am probably going to do it because I would like to know for sure my hair properties. This morning I shampooed with my Shea moisture took all the conditioner out which the last two days I have been leaving conditioner in and put more leave in plus the smoothie then gel so yeah I did go overkill. This morning I took out the conditioner used kinky curly knot today, royal jelly curl shaper and l.a looks and my curls are looking way better today.. So I did use product with protein and did not put in as much conditioning products.
I did find the hair analysis helpful, so if you're able to, I do recommend it. I have very thick hair, and because of that I figured my texture was medium coarse and my porosity had to be high because I colored my hair. Then I noticed that my hair seemed to like protein and I was completely baffled. The analysis results completely explained why my hair wasn't acting the way I expected it to act.

You also might want to check out the 2s forum- there's a thread called "Share Your Hair Biography" which could be really useful for finding product and styling recommendations- just look for people with similar properties. Properties make more of a difference in product selection than curl pattern- my hair twin has 2b waves but our hair reacts to products almost identically.
