Unhappy has anybody's hair regime ever stopped.. working??

Ive been using the same hair products and methods when doing my hair for over 9 months.. but recently my hair hasnt been turning out the same way it usually does? My products used to make my hair shiny, soft and defined but now just weigh it down and end up not even hydrating my hair!!! :/

has anyone else experienced this? does anyone have any suggestions? These products where my saving grace!

(product list:

poo: DevaCurl No Poo Cleanser
conditioner: DevaCurl One Condition
moisturiser: Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie & Yucka & Aloe Thickening Growth Milk
gell: Curl Queen (sometimes Eco Styler)
Oil: Orofluido Elixer)

Hello-I have heard that the hair gets used to products that they stop working or that they get so used to the product that it doesnt work as good.Im not sure how true it is though, but I have heard of products not being as good as they were before because the hair gets so used to it that it loses it touch.Have you ever heard of that before?

Well, I usually change my products up a bit to keep the moisture and protein balanced and also because I just want to experiment. So maybe if you use the same product too much, your hair can get overloaded. It would probably work again once your hair is in need of that type of product.

I have read so many here who "cycle" through several different products so that this doesn't happen to them. I have always cycled through 2-5 different products, because after time almost anything will stop working for me. I have read so many product recommendations here and gotten so many of the recommended products, I won't have to worry about that any time soon.

Could your problem be buildup? Perhaps you could clarify and start fresh. That's what I do.

That's what I do and I am CG. My hair just seems to need a "clean slate" so to speak every six weeks or so.

I agree with everyone above. Some hair will get used to products after time when they're used consistently. It could also just be build up. You could clarify with a simple bs wash followed by an ACV wash if you don't want to bother with a shampoo.

I was going to mention the season change, too, but it seems odd fall would make a difference if your routine worked well during both winter and summer...? So, worth mentioning I guess, but I'd say it is most likely one of the two other reasons.

My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

Many of us rotate products just for that reason. My hair has always satiated on product--even back in the shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom let myself use any one product more then once in five days, if that.

I have been using the same products for a while but if I notice my hair reacting differently I do two things:

1. Check for product buildup. Do a cleansing wash w/ baking soda and water. No poo here!

2. Deep condition! Perhaps my hair needs moisture.

3. If all else fails, it's time for a trim. That always perks my hair right up.

Have a great day!
