Do any of you still straighten your hair? What do you use? Do you flat iron or use something else?

I can't get 2nd day hair without re-wetting and I just don't have the time to do all of that. So in this cooler, drier weather, I've been doing roller sets. My hair stays reasonable for several days but it looks kind of old fashioned. I was wondering if any of you straighten your hair and whether you've had damage?

Wow we share some commonalities because everything you post I always relate to and happen to be in the same forum lol. But to answer your question I personally do, I miss straight hair sometimes and I usually wont keep it for long my advice is to use heat proctectans and dont flat iron it everyday when you are in your straight state... When u still want to wear your hair "straight" towards the end when the hair starts to get a little bland use rollers so the hair will appear less oily and try to flat iron your hair at a lower temp than what your used to I had my hair straight 2 weeks ago the last time I straightened it was in june and let me tell u if its been as long for you .. Your hair is not trained to be straight any more and if u live in humidity your hair will definitely frizz up...

Hi Tena, thanks for responding! I'm only thinking about flat ironing in this cool, low humdity, low dewpoint weather. In higher dewpoints I would definitely go curly because it would be hopeless otherwise.

Do you have a flatiron you particularly recommend or should I just go with a cheapie Conair or Revlon?

Some people say certain flat irons are better for natural Im not convinced about this so I would just say definitely ceramic plates, try t remington studio at target ... Target has a good selection not too pricey

I have once, in the past year. I used my professional flat iron that I spent way too much on 10 years ago. It was the only one that would actually straighten my hair. I also used the chi flat iron spray.

I only did it because something about my cut seemed off. I wanted to check the even, or unevenness. Straight is in no way a flattering look with the short cut I now have so I washes it the next morning.

When it grows out I will probably straighten it, from time to time. It's always been a rare occasion for me.
