Default Help with hair styles for 3c hair?

I've got a big thing coming up and since I'm strictly on a "year without heat" challenge, I would like to refrain from straightening my hair & styling how I know best. I've never worn my curly hair to a party or wedding or anything, so any ideas? It can be an updo, half updo, whatever.

My hair is thick 3c, and I have a lot of strands on my head.

Default 3C

I have the same hair type, I would braid one side and have the curls flowing. I wear a high bun mostly. Try the high bun first.

The top knot bun looks great on our hair cause the bun is so thick. Also look up hairstyles on UrbanOG's YouTube channel. Spankie valentine has great hair tutorials for long curly hair

for my uncles wedding i put my hair up in a high pony tail and kind of flipped it forwards, and pinned same curls forwards, if you get what i mean? so you got a really pretty like waterfall of curls coming down. perfect for thick hair!

my hair goal length is bra strap length when curly.
