need help with an awkward non curly spot in the back

I have 2c/3a hair. Normally the front is pretty curly but there is this one area in the back that will. not. curl.
I tried scrunching, diffusing, long layers, adjusting the amount of product, etc, but I always wind up with that one spot right at the back of my head that isn't curly.

Anyone have any suggestions to fix this, or ways to make the back of your head curlier in general?

I dont know if you can see it in these pics but its right there smack in the middle of the back of my scalp.

You have totally gorgeous hair.

My suggestion is to look at the big picture. You are focused on a detail that nobody else notices when they look at your (gorgeous!) hair.

Otherwise, be patient, and perhaps try a different product on that spot (where is it - I don't see it) like AG: Recoil which is supposed to help curling.

I have the reverse situation. My hair curls more in back. Let's switch! :love5:

Thank you! :) and I wish my hair was curlier in the back like yours-that way people behind you can say "wow that girl has amazing curls"!

I know it's minor but it bothers me that that *one* piece is so stubborn!

I'll try using the recoil more in the back...it's hard to scrunch back there though haha I'll work on my arm placement though

I have the same problem but it's on the side of my head around my ears. From my profile you can see the 3a(sometimes 3b) curls in the back and my pretty 2c wirls in the front, but around my ears I am 2a sometimes 2b if I'm lucky. The best luck I have had is... To ignore it. I've tried everything and usually the more I fuss with it the more frizz I get so I'm better off not fussing and letting it go.

However 1 time (never been able to replicate it) I spritzed those dry strands with watered down AG curl trigger, scrunched, then pixie diffused just that spot onHiGH heat for 1-2 minutes, SOTC and had gorgeous curls that lasted for that evening. bUT those spots where very very dry and frizzier than the rest of my head. Tried the same thing the next day and all I got was dry frizz, no extra curl. But maybe try it out.

Bumping because this is a very good question and I think it affects a lot of us on different areas of our head.

Have you tried protein? Protein is supposed to make our curls "pop."

Thank you for all your suggestions-and yes I know I'm not the only one this happens to so many of us and it's so annoying!

I find that I can "skipcurl" that back piece sometimes and it looks better-check out Johnathan Frizzoff's videos on YouTube :) I just add a little Curl Keeper on that one piece, curl it around my finger, and scrunch with the rest of my hair :) sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but it isn't as bad anymore!
