Question curly girl method & dry hair....

Hi, I have been using the curly girl method for a about a month now, and am finding that my hair feels really dry. I use tresemme naturals conditioner to co-wash and usualy leave some of the conditioner in my hair. I then use the olive oil ecostyler gel to style. I have tried sealing my hair with pure olive oil to lock in the moisture but i find that it sometimes creates white balls in my hair... I would really like to stick to the curly girl method as i know that most people have really good results, but finding products that are curly girl friendly is hard - i really need a good moisturiser Help me please....

Hey! It's hard in the beginning to transitioning! The dryness might be due to leaving some of the trsesumme natural in. I think it's good as a conditioner but leaving it in might be causing it to dry. Your hair might be too coated with the conditioner and the gel thus making it dry. So maybe try not leaving the conditioner in for a few days and see how your hair responds. I think, what I'm still learning is that the curly girl method is all about trial and error.

thanks for your response :-) , i think you could be right, i will try not leaving it in and see how i get on. i really think a good moisturizer would help too, but haven't found the right one yet: i agree it all seems to be about trial & error lol :-)

No problem! Trust me I understand the frustration. A good leave in is good. You should try going to target bc they have a really good selection of natural leave ins. They range in price I'd say from 9.99+ but most are all natural. I personally notice when I don't use any gel and just use leave in after I condition my hair is ideally soft without any buildup for a few days.

Try adding a homemade deep conditioner to your regimen once a week. I like using mayo, avocado, or honey. I usually prepoo as well with either olive oil or coconut oil. I warm it up and let it sit for 30 to an hour. Then wash with a sulfate free shampoo. Then condition with tresseme naturals, rinse. Make sure to use a light leave in under the eco styler too. I like kinky curly knot today or Giovanni direct. Hope this helps :-)

Tres naturals does nothing for my hair as a leave in. Try a different LI. I also like giovanni direct and i hav a few curl junkie products that work for me. Sometimes i find tge ecostyler to be a lil drying and ic fantasia gel a lil less(it has water soluble cones). And cocunut oil is known to enter the shaft and help with moisturizing. U may also want to do a deep cond treatment once a week.
