I recently got a cut and color. Second color and third cut from the same Ouidad stylist. I'm not happy with the way the cut is - almost an elongated bowl shape - and it's just not working for me. Sadly unless I want to go back to a bob, I'm stuck until it grows. Fortunately it grows fast, but still.

Even the color - she colored throughout all the layers except the top one!! And nothing around my face. I brought in a picture of a pretty caramel brown for the highlight color, and she did gold and cherry red, which is cute, but dark! Guess I can go get some brightness put in the top layers by someone else, which is fine, but I just feel frustrated.

I actually liked the cut ok when I left the salon, and it curls up nicely, but the shape emphasizes my big double chin (steroid weight gain, can't exercise til after surgery) and I feel frumpy!

I just needed to get that off my chest. Guess its time to try someone else. Fortunately my sister in law is a stylist and they have Deva trained stylists in their salon who she says are really good.

Attaching two pics of me with my new niece today that show the shape of the cut. What do you think? Cut off the weird shaped length and bob it, or let it grow because the basic shape will look ok with 4" more length all over?



I feel like if I draw a straight line back from the front layer in this picture, so it's just barely above shoulder length, it would look better. Your thoughts? Is there a way I can style it half-up to make it better? I haven't really figured out styles yet.

I've worn my hair in an inverted bob for the last four years, so you know what my answer is! It's the first time in my life I feel like my hair has a style. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day--it's pretty easy.

Congratulations on your new niece. She is beautiful.

I am not really seeing the problem with the haircut so I can't give advice on what would look better. I can commiserate on the double chin issue, though - I have one thanks to genetics and it doesn't matter if I am thin or have a few pounds on...it is simply always there. I hate it. If *I felt* a particular cut emphasized it, I know would have to fix it somehow. So, since you are not happy with it the cut, I feel like what you might do about it depends on if you want to lose length or if that is unimportant to you. If you don't care about length, cut it. Otherwise, let it be and wear it up. It will grow out quickly - you say your hair grows fast, if it is the same type of 'fast' as my hair growth, the cut will easily grow out within about 8 weeks.

RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

Thanks for the dose of practicality. Lol. I was having a moment of massive frustration. I think kathymack nailed it - it's the exact opposite of an inverted bob, which has been my go-to for years and I've always loved it cut that way. It's the opposite of the cut I love, so do I hate it? Or does it just need to grow about 4" (aka 2-3 months) and it'll be perfect and full of body. I covet Veronica Meza's hair (YouTube her if you don't know her offhand) and its this same shape but a lot longer. Perhaps I'll try to be patient and try out a few updos.
