New to gel, medium or strong hold?
When I say new to gel, I did use it in the 80's but that was that heavy wet look stuff used to slick my very short mullet cut into 80's spikes. Didn't work very well :silent: :geek:
I'm only just re-discovering my curl - not been straightening, but my hair became very frizzy from being dried out from colouring (been using sulphate free products for years but leave-ins where I live ALL contain silicones).
My hair curl has also changed in the last decade as I went through menopause, my hair is fully grey but I colour using ColorHerb (natural dye) that has a very low peroxide level in the activator.
Basically I've gone from a 3B in my 20's/30's to more of a 3A into my 50's - at least that appears to be the case with the frizz under control. (previously couldn't even do a bounce test as no curl definition at all!)
My hair is very fine, and quite thin (I lost about half my hair volume about a decade ago after a crash low fat diet - lost 50 pounds and my lovely hair).
so the combination of change in curl, thin and fine hair that looks to be a 3A - I think gels seem to be quite heavy on my hair. I'm looking at Curl Junkie products and wonder if I should try a light hold gel; or should I go for a curling creme?
I'm not sure with thin, fine hair if I should go for a light hold, medium hold or strong hold gel, or if I should forget get and go for a curl creme (e.g. Curl Junkie Coffee-Coco Curl Creme?)
If your hair is really fine, protein would probably do wonders for you.
Most of us layer products. Depending on the time of year (dewpoints.) I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. In the higher dewpoints, I use a leave in OR curl enhancer with a jelly product (gelatinous consistency without the chemicals.) In the low dewpoints, I use a leave in AND a curl enhancer with a jelly product.
I, like many others, rotate products. My hair has always satiated on product, even in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom use any one product more then once in five days. I also do at least one PT a week and use a lot of products with protein.
