Default Dry hair ! HELPPPP

okay so i have 3b/3c hair and my hair has been extremely dry, to the point where it gets matted and tangled very easily . What products can I use to help my situation ?? Is African shea butter good for that , and where can I buy that stuff ?

also, this is off topic, but how do I post a pic to my profile . I'm new to this site .

Start with determining your hair properties: http://livecurlylivefree.com/curly%20hair%20basics.htm

What you describe sounds like you may need less protein. Is your hair 'straw-like'? What products have you been using?

My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

Yes my hair has been straw like ! I use castor oil and almond oil , but i think Im going to stop using those because I have been using both since October and haven't seen any differences. I also use eco styler gels and I used to use cantu shea butter but it left these white flakes in my hair so I stopped . And I use coconut oil but I ran out .

It could be from using all of those oils. Unless you are doing a deep conditioning treatment, oil shouldn't be your sole method of moisturizing your hair. Invest in a good conditioner/moisturizer. I use sheamoisture products, but only you will know what products are going to work best for your hair.

Gels are also very drying, I'd cut down on them. Gels should only be for styling, not moisturizing~so if you are having a difficult time moisturizing your hair I wouldn't focus too much on trying to style it. Put more of your effort into keeping it moisturized.

Oil should only be for your ends (unless doing a hot oil treatment), and should only be for locking in the moisture that your hair should have obtained from using a different moisturizing product. When you co-wash your hair make sure to leave some conditioner in your hair.

This might help you...since your hair is really dry your process might need to be more detailed, but this is how I moisturize my hair:

How to Define Your Hair (NaturalRemedy) - YouTube

I'd skip the gel part for now, depending on how your hair feels/holds up. But it's up to you.

Try detangling your hair while the conditioner is still in it. also, what products are you using now?

And to answer your second question:
1. Go to Curl Talk
2. Click Forums
3. on the top left corner, you'll see User Cp.
4. Click on that.
5. Then click edit avatar, this is on the left side.
6. Upload your pic and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
