Question Hair is becoming too soft?

Hey all! I have recently switched over to a different hair stylist and to the Sexy Curly Hair products, because it makes my hair lighter. Lately, my hair (Which is usually 2c on a bad day, 3a on a good day) has practically gone to about a 2a-2b. I went to a salon yesterday, and she did a great job on my hair and it was still softer, but it curled like it's more normal curl. Today I washed it and it became waaaaay silky and is having a problem curling. I'm getting big waves and it looks like it's coming from a curling iron the size of my arm. I realllly miss my tight and springy curls. Is there any way to keep my hair light and well hydrated while getting my "roughness/grittiness" back that seems to be what curls my hair? I have to attend a wedding soon, and it's driving me nuts that my hair will not settle down >.<

remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!!
My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

Totally agree with the recommendation for protein. It's all about getting the moisture/protein balance right.

It's really helpful to know your hair properties to determine ingredients/products to use. Here's a link to help Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics Once you determine your hair properties, you can look for folks with hair like yours and see what they use (in signatures.)

The protein treatments sound interesting! Does anybody have any idea how much they typically run?

You can always whip up something from stuff in your kitchen, like using an egg, mayonaise or pureed banana...i would go with egg, normally
