3c curls growing out to 3b

im kinda new to the 3b forms, i always was 3c, but cause im growing my hair, i noticed the other day that im getting more wavy as curly.
is there anything i can or should change? i just use oils and condish as a styler and low poo every other day. ooh my hair just touches BSL when its wet, so its getting kinda longer.
any advice?

Do you think it could be that the weight of your hair, now that it is longer, is pulling the curls down and so making them look more wavy and less curly? If this is the case, and you want to keep the length but also get your curls back to 3C, you could try adding more layers to your hair.

Also, this time of year many folks notice limper curls due to winter dryness and low dewpoints. Do you think that could be affecting you? Maybe try doing a deep condish?

I agree w/ Hoot- maybe it's the winter or your length. My hair gets looser in the winter because of all of the moisture being sucked out of my curls during the day!

My leave in becomes the GVPCB- and even with my baby fine curls, it doesn't weigh it down. :)

yea i was thinking that as well. i dont have a problem with it, ill let my hair do what it whats to do. i just want any tips on more looser curl care then what i was used to. im home sick from work, so i thought today is the perfect day for a lil me time. planning on a nice deep condish and rinse after.
yes the winter seems to do a number on my hair, limp dry and fizzy and too busy to really take care of it other then washing and my condish style routine.

Same thing happens to me once it reaches my shoulder blades (My 3b/c curls become mostly 3a/b. It's the weight from all that length that causes loosening). I add a bunch of layers - including some pretty short ones near the crown and that makes those curls bounce right back :blob4:

ITA with previous posters about length and winter weather results in looser curls. In addition to layers, a protein treatment or using a conditioner with protein may result in a tighter curl pattern or at least it does for me during the winter.

Agree w/protein causing tighter curl pattern - that happens for me too ;)

im protein sensitive, so i have to be careful with the amounts of protein i use. i finally deep conditionered my hair and finished with a nice herbal ACV rinse, im still waiting for it to dry, though i already see i have alot more life in my hair now. im thinking bout getting a trim though i wanna wait untill my hair is BSL before i make the move, im 20 and i have not once had a good hair, cut that i was really happy with, so i havent been for almost 2 years now. my ends are ok i dont use any heat, though i wouldnt mind finally haveing a nice shape

Can relate about being leery of hair cuts. Good news is there are more stylists specializing in curly hair than ever before :toothy7: May I recommend doing a little preliminary research on stylists, so you have more confidence once you decide to go in for your cut? (Yelp and NC salon finder reviews have been a great help to me :) ) I choose Deva stylists and the occasional straight forward wet cut stylist, but some people also really like Ouidad stylists.

if i had that choice i would, but im in germany and its not that big here, all the hair dressers just cut normal like its straight hair, thats why i want to wait till i have a bit more length before i make the dive so tha when they have to cut a bit more off then maybe its not that bad cause my hair is already a bit longer. if that makes sence?

That makes a lot of sense :D

just wanted to share my "style" that i did today. i wanted to have a protective syle that also is great for a bad hair day. my hair is getting longer and detangling is getting more important though i dont do it every day so i also wanted something that helps.
i did a nice big braid in the middle from the back of my head. as i was braiding i had a bit of oil on my hands, when the braid was done i just wrap it around a bit, so its like a bun now and pinned it. its really cute. doesnt show that my hair is so curly though it protects and i noticed detangling was easier.

Good for you! Creative and sounds pretty too :thumright:
