Winter Hair/Climate Affects?

Hey all!

I'm a 2a with pretty light/fine hair and have been in the Southeast US for a month--and got a stellar haircut that I love! But on returning to the Northeast, my hair has totally wimped out--the underlayers have flattened right out and even some of the top pieces are oddly perfectly straight. I assume it's the dry cold (or maybe some difference in water?) because my routine is exactly the same: co-wash every other day, leave-in, gel scrunch, air-day. Any tips or advice?

I meant effects, oops!

It's definitely possible, my hair seems more limp in the winter and the curl is a bit more loose.

I think it's learning what your hair likes. Before I started lurking on nc.com and using product/technique, my hair was barely wavy in the winter. Since I've learned how to take care of it, it looks like my signature picture all year around.

When the dewpoints are low, you need to up the moisture. When the air doesn't have moisture, it sucks it out of your hair and skin. I use an extra layer of product--leave in AND curl enhancer with a jelly product. I also keep up the protein with moisturizing PTs. It helps tighten curl, increase volume and reduce frizz for me.

Weather and climate do affect the hair. I learned this the hard way. You usually have to adjust your routine.
