is my hair 2c or 3a, confused

hi, I know it doesn't matter too much, I've been nearly CG for 1.5 years and my hair's in a pretty good shape (especially after henna, though it did loosen my curl pattern a bit)
it's just for academic purposes I consider myself a 2c, but seeing some hair in the 3a gallery made me wonder - what is my curl pattern? how do you perceive it?

1st photo is of my hair yesterday right after SOTC (diffused, it doesn't ever get curlier than this),
2nd same day after fingercombing through my hair and adding some Garnier avocado & shea butter conditioner to tame the volume and loosen the curl,
3rd photo is how my hair looked recently after reviving it on 6th day (my hair keeps freshness for a looong time) - spray+gel+diffuser (but it shows underlayers, which are curlier than the top)
and 4th is of how my hair usually looks after diffusing and SOTC...

any ideas? thank you!

Looks pretty 3a to me! Very lovely, and the length looks great on you!
Medium/coarse, low porosity, dense, mix of 3s

Trying out steaming!
Katie, my hair looks fairly similar to yours from the back in the first day pic and I consider myself 3A. I figure we looser curlies should label or type ourselves (if at all) based on what our hair has the capacity of doing the first day with proper styling. Unstyled I'm 2C right now. (I did a naked hair test.) But styled (that first day) I'm always at least 3A. I also have a pinch of 3B because the curls around the nape of my neck and underneath are very fat and spiraly and sometimes, when the weather and stylers and the moon is just right, my whole hair changes to these fat spirals. My hair also gets about two extra inches shorter when those days happen. I already have a good 3-4 inches of curl shrinkage from straightened to curly but I don't mind more. It looks like you have an underlayer of fatter curls too maybe! I take this as a good sign I "labeled" myself correctly.

hmm maybe I am 3a then after all...

thank you Hootenanny

Dusalocks how do you perform the naked hair test?
do you put absolutely nothing on your hair then? do you plop or airdry or diffuse?
oh and yes, my hair does have an underlayer of fatter curls, but they're about 1.5" in circumference, they just tend to clump together quite nicely, especially in humid weather or a few days after washing
umm and at what point do you use a comb if ever during the test?

So the naked hair test. . . it's just an idea I got in my head to do every 4 weeks because of the "my hair loves conditioner only styling" thread. So I just got out of the shower, took a pinch of my conditioner, maybe a quarter size, and applied it to my dripping wet hair. Then I scrunched the excess moisture out (as much as I could) with a MF towel and let it air dry. My hair air dries relatively fast I think because of its high porosity since moisture leaves it quickly. It looked really nice. I wish I'd taken a picture. I did the same test a month ago and I had a frizzy 2B-ish but not pretty 2B-ish mess. So this is a sign that CG is making my hair healthier. (I think I may have damaged my hair a little from styling it straight for so long. . .?) I am only two months into CG. My curls at the nape are thick spirals but I think they're only 3/4 of an inch in circumference at most. They just seem fatter because they're tighter and more springy. When I pull on them they snap back right away! Sometimes I pin my top layer back so you can see them better. And when I put my hair in an updo I leave a few of them out. I only wish the rest of my hair would do that more often. But whatever. You have to rock what you have.

thank U Dusalocks! ok, so I guess I'll try this as soon as I have the time and weather conditions for airdying without too much of a risk of catching a cold (unfortunately I tend to get ill after feeling cold while hair is drying )
Beautiful hair Katie....I would say you are a 2C with 3A components. Your hair looks so healthy!
