Default Is my hair 3a? Not sure.

I posted this in one of the stickies, but I think it was the wrong place, so I decided to start a thread.

I'm unsure of my hair type and am having a difficult type trying to figure it out. I was thinking either 3a or 3b, but I'm uncertain of this.

Here are a few pictures (which I hope are sufficient). This is my hair, fresh out of the shower, shampooed and conditioned and dry with NO product (and, believe me, it was difficult NOT to douse my hair in product because it never goes without it -- look at the frizzy mess!). I am trying to find products targeted towards my specific hair type, but since I'm not sure what it is exactly, I'm reluctant to drop money on something that won't work. I've been using TRESemme Flawless Curls mousse for years, and all it does is weigh my hair down and make it look wet with some extra crunch (blah), but I don't know what else to use to tame this wild beast.

Lots and lots of hair. Curls are looser and soft (but my hair is dry). Top layer is unbelievably frizzy (these pictures don't show just how frizzy it is in its natural state). My routine: shampoo and condition with TRESemme Moisture Rich (cheap garbage), lots and lots of TRESemme Flawless Curls mousse distributed evenly throughout with fingers (combed through and then scrunched), Suave hairspray, then allow to sit for 10-15 minutes, finishing it up by blow drying it. I also have side bangs, which I straighten last.

I'm looking for something that will erase the frizz, define the curls, and make my hair soft. Also, I HATE a lot of volume. A little is alright, but I'm not into having it big. I have lots of fly-aways (grrr) and my hair frizzes at the drop of a hat: in heat or if wet. I also can't wear it the same on the second day, as the definition is destroyed once I sleep it on it.

Help a girl out!

Also, I hope this is alright to do . . .

This is how my hair turns out whenever I style it with the mousse and the hairspray (my everyday look). I don't know if this will help determine my curl type or not? The curls are tighter and crunchier and wet looking. Hope these ones also help!

I would say your hair looks a bit tighter than 3a. Also, 3a tends to be fine. What texture is your hair?

I'm no expert yet but I think you're curlier than 3a too. 3b maybe even 3c. A lot of 3a's have to really coax out curls because of the texture.
The best thing Ive learned is to put your products on soaking wet hair. When you do that, it really soaks in and you're not left with the producty feeling.
Fwiw, I really prefer your first pics too- I think if you went on a conditioner only method it would cut the frizz and you'd be left with crazy awesome hair!

I also think you are closer to a 3B......but I am also not an expert.

I'd say maybe a mix of both, leaning towards 3B. My hair curls similarly at times, but because of my dark hair, pics do not accurately show it.
