Curls in the cold, Help!

I live in Boston and its freezing. My curls look terrible. I'm using all the proper products for my hair based on the hair analysis but my hair looks terrible. My second day hair is dry frizzy and puffy, and its too cold to sport the wet look. I use satin pillowcases and the pineapple. I've tried diffusing via the pixie curl method the day of and it just makes my hair too big and very frizzy! Everyone keeps telling me to put the keratin treatment in my hair and straighten it. I've been on this quest to work with my curls and I feel disappointed if I have to go back to straight hair. I haven't gotten any compliments with my curly hair despite all my efforts. I just get told to straighten it. I only get compliments when it's straight and even when it's straight I think it looks dry and frizzy. Any suggestions? I've been cg for 7 years now and I've chopped off all the heat damage. My hair is now long and I have triangle head. I can't find a good stylist nor can I afford one. I work in a corporate environment. Im petite and so big hair does not suit me. Layers increase my hairs volume when curly so I don't like them.

I don't know if this would help at all, but I know a good hair stylist in New Haven who isn't expensive. Her name is Luvena Leslie -- she might be able to help you with a cut! A short train ride away . . .

I'm also struggling with my curls in this weather. 2nd day, I'm actually fine, but after that my hair is kinda STRAIGHT.

Have you tried the LOC method? When you get out of the shower, with your hair SOPPING wet, run some water-based leave-in through. Then 1-2 drops of a good, light oil. THEN your styling cream. Then plop n style. This is working okay for me -- at least for days 1 and 2 . . .
