Hair Breakage, I Need help

Hello Everyone,

I am new to doing forums, however I really didn't know what else to do. I have been natural now for 2 year, I am 3C for the part, 2C in some areas. About a year ago a small section of my hair broke off short.

I have tried keep it moisturized, massaging it, hair growth oils and nothing seems to grow it back out. It is a weak section of my hair, but I never had such a hard time growing it back once it broke off.

If anyone knows of a method, hair products, homemade hair products that can aid me with growing my hair please let me know. I don't want to have to cut it just for that one spot. Please help, and thank you in advance.

What were you doing to your hair in terms of styling when it broke off? Did it break off from the roots? Do you have any known health problems? Have you been stressed lately? Have you been tired a lot lately?

If you can work out what was going on then you will be able to work out if it's a mechanical problem or not. If it's not then you need to go to the doctor asap.
I kept my hair in two strand twist. Then I wore the twist outs. It didn't break off at the root, it's just short. I have no health problems. I did notice that once I did the twist and wear the twist out, once I went to wet and detangle my hair I had shedding. It happens every so many years in that one area. It may be a stress point in my head, but I figured it was something I could do to strengthen it. There is some stress and miss some sleep. Nothing out of the normal though.
Are you a hair twirler at all? What is your diet like? Do you take vitamins? Have you been to a dermatologist? Do you use a lot of protein? Do you deep condition a lot?

There's many factors that can cause this. I don't really buy into the products that supposedly grow your hair faster. This comes with proper nutrition and good health of the hair. And time.

Good idea to answer sixelamy questions. Also post your hair regime and tell us what types of clips or hair bands you use.
Lets see, I do oil pre poo's, shampoo and conditioner. When I condition I add honey. When I am not shampooing I clarify with acv. I use shea moisture daily moisturizer, I put evoo in the bottle. I seal with coconut oil. I use silk scarves around my hair for bands. Or goody brand bands, they are the kind that you have to tie a knot, so they come a loose not sure the name. I sleep with a silk wrap at night. I play with my hair, so I keep a scarf on while I am home.

I have started braiding my hair, with the hopes of leaving it alone more now. I noticed that my hair knots at the ends. I try keep my ends trimmed at much as possible. I do deep condition, but I really don't like using heat often, so I don't use heat too much.

I have not been to a dermatologist. I don't believe a use a lot of protein. I don't take supplements. I eat yogurt, even though it does not match up with vitamins. I drink water and green tea. I wanted to start making the smoothie drinks, have not found one that I'm sure is what I need.

Diet I don't eat a lot of sweets. I eat vegetables and fruits. I cook so im not eating a ton of fast food. I bake my meats, try not to eat a ton of fried foods. I like eating nuts I also get nutrition from those.

Hope I gave you the answers you were looking for. Thanks for the help so far.
Sounds like you are doing everything you need to be doing to help protect it. Was this a spot that you would play with when it's not wrapped?

This is a good read for protein vs. moisture and hair breakage. I hope this helps.

No the spot is just a weak point. It's very strong at all. So I figure I could use hair products, oil or something to strengthen it. I will start taking vitamins to see if that helps any.

I use to get perms a while back and the same area break off then too. So I cut it and put a texturizer on it for about a year and my hair grow healthy everywhere. After that I just kept it up without the texturizers.

Sadly I wanted a change again because my real hair became hard to deal with. So I cut and permed it into a short style. After that I really didn't enjoy perms so I transitioned for a while, then I just decided to cut all the perm off. This was 2 years ago. I wondering if I should have went the texturizer route again in the beginning.
Did you ever get scabs in that region from a stylist burning your scalp there?
Well it looks like you going to have to keep hair touching to the absolute minimum, make an effort to get some decent sleep, take a multivitamin and add a protein conditioner to your regime.

Then if it doesn't improve in six months and you are still worried go see a derm.
