Wondering what methods you use- scrunching, smoothing, raking, finger curling, diffusing, air drying, whatever.

I prefer smoothing and scrunching my gel but raking and scrunching my leave in. If I rake my gel it separates my curly clumps way too.much resulting in wonky curls. If that happens I use super soak method. I also plop and recently dry with a soft hood dryer in the cool setting. If I want to make a curl to form on wet hair I twirl a section and shake but I don't mess with it too much because I eventually break any clump and mess with my curly.

[Properties for mobile users]
M+C/ii, high porosity, medium elasticity, growing out color and heat damage.

So I have a mix of 2c (top layer & some front sections), 3a (middle), and 3b (nape and temples). I find it difficult to manage all these different curl patterns... particularly since I had a lot of breakage around my face (heat damage) and bangs from when I was wearing it straight. So my styling goals are usually...

#1 manage the shorter hairs around my face
#2 make sure the 2c areas curl as much as possible
#3 ensure that the 3a areas clump up well when wet and dry/set into a natural pattern without much frizz
#4 elongating the 3b curls underneath (if possible) so that my hair doesn't look stringy/less full at the bottom.
^^needless to say, this takes time and effort... but it is worth it.

So here is what I have done the last few times that have gotten me good results...
#1 condition, detangle, wash (sulfate free shampoo) and condition again. Rinse thoroughly in cold water
#2 leave my hair dripping wet... add leave-in (if I use it) and suave captivating curls mousse (my current HG product). I put a generous amount and brush with denman to ensure every hair is coated. I usually have to put a towel on the floor because my hair is literally dripping
#3 separate out the shorter face-framing pieces (brush forward) and put the back in a wet pony tail to get it out of the way
#4 finger curl and clip the front pieces (metal duck-bill clips). I rotate these away from my face and divide them out according to how I know my hair usually clumps naturally
#5 (optional) If i want to invest the time and be fancy, I will also finger curl and clip the 2c pieces at the top so that they clump and form more 3a-sized ringlets
#6 take my back ponytail down and divide it on either side... super-soaker it to get it to clump well. Fill my hands with diluted gel (BRHG) and scrunch the clumps
#7 use a t-shirt to scrunch out more water
#8 diffuse gently (keeping my head right-side-up)
#9 once 50% dry, spray with hairspray and air dry while I get ready/do other things
#10 come back later and take the clips out (hair still damp) and diffuse some more
#11 once it's completely dry I SOTC and from there I will use mousse and my fingers to finger style and tame frizzies. I will sometimes put coconut oil on some areas
#12 stretch out and and elongate the tighter curls underneath

^^Yes, it's a long process and takes a while... but I'm doing what works for my hair at this length. I'm hoping it will be more simple as it grows out...
In the shower: Cowash. Lots of RO conditioner (GVP CB). Detangle and create part using a fine tooth comb. Rinse out all condish using scrunching out water instead of squeezing/pulling down my hair.

Out of the shower: add in Giovanni Direct leave in. Scrunch out water using t-shirt. Separate hair into left/right sections. Rake in 1/2 pump of emulsified AG recoil curl activator. Flip hair upside down. Scrunch in another 1/2 pump. Plop for 10-15 min.

After plopping: scrunch in some HETT gel. And stop touching (the hardest part for me) while I air dry

That looks long/complicated, but it takes me 5-10 min (not including plop time) and while my hair doesnt look the same, I always like how it turns out
2c/3a mix and very fine, normal porosity
Shampoo: Loreal EverSleek Sulfate-free (Only 1 or 2x a week)

CoWash Suave Naturals Coconut or VO5 Kiwi Lime Squeeze

Rinse Out: Giovanni 2chic Avocado and Olive Oil or GVPCB

Leave in: More Suave Naturals Coconut or GVPCB Always diluted with water/epsom salt spray

Products: AG Re:coil with EcoStyler Olive Oil gel or HETT gel

I apply products soaking wet, and with my head flipped upside down (I think it gives me more volume.) A rake and scrunch in a dollop of conditioner and scrunch in my gel. Then I scrunch with a microfiber towel, part, clip at the roots, and diffuse almost all the way.

I rake, then smooth, then scrunch and then finger-curl problem areas. Then I'll air-dry or, sometimes, diffuse. So basically, all of the above
