Usually, after I apply product to my hair I finger set my curls. I like to emphasize my spirals because they are so gorgeous with just a little boost. I pick out natural clumps and spiral/twirl them around my index finger. I do this all over, spray with gel to set, do not touch until dry, and there we go!

A curl enhancer, like re:coil may help.

I find that gels with aloe really encourage the curls in my hair!

does diffusing or air drying make a difference? does one make your hair curlier than the other?

Conditioners or styling products with glycerin seem to give me tighter, springier curls.
Also White Rain coconut conditioner seems to tighten my curls. Not sure if it's the coconut.

It doesn't tighten the curl, it just makes the curl a little fuller. At least that's my experience with a diffuser.

I asked a similar question for my 3A curls a while back, and people kept telling me to air dry for tighter curls, but I found the opposite to be true. I get better curl formation and more shrinkage when i diffuse.
