Cool new thing

Hello all,

I belong in two boards like most of you. My hair can be curly when wet and wavy when dry. It looks thin but feels thick (to me anyway as I always wished it was as thick as it felt!).

After going through the product junkie stage, of which I'm still partly in, I'm beginning to find my favorites. Although I consider myself mostly CG, my hair does respond well to cones, so some of the stuff I use does have a stray cone but I generally try to make sure it's not at the beginning of the list.

Conditioners (wash and leave-ins): (no particular order)
*VO5 Moisture Milk Strawberries and Cream w/honey
*Suave Professionals Humectant w/jojoba oil
*Potion #9 (Sally's version)
*Giovanni 50:50 Remoisturizer

Gels: (no particular order)
*Herbal Essence Humidity Defying Gel
*Aura Hypo-allergenic Gel
*Aussie Tizz No-Frizz
*Suave Biolage
*ABBA Weightless Gel
*Garnier Fructis XXL Volumizing Gel (this is rapidly becoming my HG even though it has a cone )

Mousses:
Joico Ice Whip
J/A/S/O/N pump mousse (not sure about this one)

Other "stuff":
FOTE
Honey
Jojoba oil

DT:
Sally's verion of Joico K-Pak

Second day hair is unheard of for me, so I usually end up co-washing every morning with Suave Humectant w/jojoba oil. Condition with VO5 MM Strawberries and Cream (LOVE the scent!). Blot dry with a microfiber towel. Put the leave-in de jour. Mix a little FOTE with the gel de-jour. Maybe put in a little mousse on the top of my (I NEED volume and will take anybody's leftovers!), then a little more FOTE and gel and scrunch. Try to see if I can use clips that day (hair is usually too thin ) ala Mayim's pics. Diffuse upside down 80% dry, then air dry.

Then the frustrating part comes ... trying to arrange my hair. The bottom of my hair usually gets sacrificed because it's so difficult to the the top of my head/crown area to behave (gotta make sure my scalp is covered). But, with the Garnier Fructis gel, I've found that I can blow dry my bangs straight, then blowdry just the top for a few seconds to give it some lift before diffusing.

I am waiting on my order of Curl Keeper and Elucence to come in and I'm hoping the CK will help with some of the other cone-free gels. I'm just finding more and more that when I use the GF, I'm very pleased with the way my hair looks.

Did I write a book?

I cut and pasted from the 2b post I just did .

Hi guys! Joining you as another 2C/3A!

My routine is this:
I shampoo daily, although I've been trying to use a sulfate free shampoo. I say "try" b/c I'd love to use up everything I have right now! I'm also using any 1 of my 7 conditioners......so I can go out and buy new ones! Okay, so after I shampoo and condition, I rinse it all out, and then flip my head over upside down, and comb w/ a wide tooth comb. Then I scrunch some curl back in and shake it out a little and scrunch it up into a bun-type-thing, and secure it w/ a claw clip. I stay like that for the rest of my shower, and about 15-20 minutes after I'm out and getting ready. I blot it w/ a towel when it starts dripping. Then I take it down, and shake it out, and put in gel. I've been using Aloe Vera, the gel-liquid edible kind. I'm loving that and Dove anti frizz cream. I air dry when it's really warm, but otherwise I diffuse. When I'm all dry I smooth on the Dove cream, and scrunch in more curls.

Once I run out of my shampoos and conditioners, I'll be on the hunt for new products!

I don't mind using cones, it usually depends on the product more than it does whether or not there are cones in it. I haven't done a DT in a while, and it shows. My hair responds better when I DT every week or 2. Right now I'm focusing on my skin rather than my hair. I actually had better luck when we had really disgustingly humid days. I was able to air dry, and still get great curls, so my hair responded well.

Please excuse any typos. For the time being, we are blaming it on my computer.
Wow! It's been so long since I've been on NC. I used to live here, and then I got a new job 4 months ago and have been M.I.A! How I missed you all. Well it's summertime now and I'm off (I'm a teacher).

SO...I will add....

THEN i decided i missed one condish, got a liter, sold the rest of my elucence and now i'm thinking it feels producty again. what is WRONG with me!!!!??!?!?!?"

Guess what...I mix these two. It started as an accident b/c I ran out of Deva One and only had a palmful left, so I put that in and then added EMB. So what I do now is this...First a palmful or two of Deva One, then a palmful of Elucence MB. SOOO GOOOD. Consistently good results. I'm still using Nexxus Redif. Gel over CK, and HCC to wash. Loving my hair. ALSO since I started mixing these two (a couple of months ago) I keep getting compliments on how great my hair smells--even from perfect strangers!

I actually mix them sometimes too. I'll use One C to detangle and then if I just feel I need a little extra moisture, I'll throw some Elucence over it. I really like this combo too. I don't use it all the time but I do it a couple times a week.
2b/3a, primarily use Jessicurl and DevaCurl products, Curls Hair Tea conditioner and various gels. I'm modified CG-ish since 5/04.
nice to "see" you curlywally
thanks for the congrats! i might very well have to get another bottle of elucence to try this mixture. i too have been loving the nexxus redefining gel (we've been calling it POTAR or POTAER to abrreviate the super-long name)..... i think it might be my HG. i love angell and b&a, but i always seem to have GREAT hair days when i use the nexxus - especially great when paired with KMS curl hydrator.
