I think it smells pretty heavy on the lavendar. Supposedly that has antiseptic propoerties - it could definitely knock out bad smelling hair like from cigarettes. I think I like the smell of Aura Rosemary Leave-in better, it's cheaper and they work pretty similarly for me.
Both have to be used sparingly, I start by spraying it on the underneath layers with my hair flipped upside-down. Then add more and reshape curls.
If I need to add a little more moisture to my hair, I use a mist of water so that I don't get too producty/sticky, but this is preventative based on others' comments. I've never felt like it was too much.
It's also what they use at Devachan to add moisture when setting pincurls into dry hair, and works well to reactivate Angell, etc, for this purpose.
