Tried Angell-- disappointed!!!!
I was really expecting to love Angell, given that so many others do and that I love one Condition. I don't know if I used too much or too little, or if it's just not right for me. It made my hair even curlier and softer looking, and I prefer a gel to make it a little calmer and shinier looking. Has anyone else tried this product and not liked it? It's just the PJ in my that made me try it-- I've been happy with Biolage Gellee. But I bought Aura Hypo-gel today to try to make myself feel better! I'll be trying that tomorrow!

I used Angell last year, when I first started CG. I didn't like it either, but I think that my expectations of it were probably not in line with what it could really do for my hair at that time. I mean, my hair was still adjusting to CG and CO washing, so that may have been part of why very few products pleased me at that time.
I'll be curious to see what you think of Aura Hypo gel -- I started using it a couple of weeks ago and I love it! I started using a small amount one day, realized I needed more frizz control and added a bit more the next day(s) until I got the right amount for me (about 2-3 quarter-sized drops on my just-below-shoulder-length hair). I even had a day where I put on too much and my hair still looked good. I love that virtually all crunch can be scrunched out, yet the "hold" still remains.

I like it (the Aura gel)! Maybe I didn't distribute it quite well enough, because the ends are a little frizzy in 1 place, but overall, I've got nice definition, almost no crunch, and my hair is more vertical than horizontal! I also used about 3 quarter-sized blobs of it. My hair also feels very nice. With both Angell and Biolage, my hair felt a little gunky. Only thing I like better about Biolage is I think the hold is stronger, but I'll try using a little more of the Aura next time. And now I need to stop with this PJ business! After I get Elucence!

I LOVE Angell, so am sorry that you didn't get the results you like. It does provide less hold than Biolage Gellee (which is another gel that I love). I use about a nickle size of Angell and it looks great layered over a leave-in I've also gotten second day hair 3X now using Angell, so it is one of my absolute favorites.
Still, you've got to stick to what works or doesn't work in your hair despite what others like

angell
i hated angell--it left my hair sticky and big, and the curls didn't form well at all.

Wow! I can't believe that no one else loves Angell as much as me.... Well, no one who has posted yet on this thread, anyway. Angell just soaks into my hair so nicely and it only takes a little bit to hold and define my curls... Plus, I love the scent.

I agree -- the scent is great! How long is your hair? I am always intrigued when people can use just a bit of gel and get great results, when I need 3 quarter-sized drops to cover my shoulder-length hair.

Hey curls2 grow-
My hair is back to shoulder length from being hacked to chin length about 6 weeks ago... It's medium thick so needs product but can't tolerate too much or else gets sticky and gummy... It's a delicate balance Maybe your hair is thicker than mine....

I'm another one who can't use Angell, and I really tried. With/without a leave-in, layered with a stronger hold product, small amounts to huge amounts, on soaking wet hair and towel dried hair.....nothing. It's just a really bad gel for me. I'll have about 30 minutes of decent hold and definition, and then it just falls apart.

Angell didn't work for me either. My hair wasn't crunchy, but it was so dried out that it felt like straw. I did love the smell though!

I can't decide whether to try Angell again or send it to Curltopia or Banjo!

Hey, we should! And we both live in NY so it would be an easy send.

When I had my hair cut at Devachan, I got the Angel which I really liked and then I switched to Volumax gel which I liked better. Today I went to Sallys and got the Aura Hypo gel(from all the great reviews). I'm going to try it tomorrow. By the way I still love how my hair looks when I mix my leavin condish with the gel in one "blob".

You're so cute! But I am all good on gel for now... As I have been complaining I have way too many hair products to power through!!!

I really liked the aura hypo gel. My hair held up to Fl. humidity. Had some frizz but it was tolerable. Got alot of compliments at work

I'm glad it worked for you! Did you plop with it? And you used it over conditioner or mixed it with your condish? Curious-- I am moving to FL soon. If this NYC humidity has been hard for my her, I'm gonna need all the help I can get.

Or you can send it to me! I love AnGell! It's one of my favorite gels.
I also bought the Aura gel last night on my way to my dance class. It seems to me that a lot of curlies love this gel. I was too lazy today to wet my hair, I'm on vacation. I'll try it tomorrow.
Urbancurl, did you try the AnGell on clarified hair. When I try something new, I have to do this in order to see if it really works for me. HTH

Well, I tried it after washing with Cream of Nature. Does that count as clarifying?? I've been wondering that. And I used it over OC.
