Default Hello,I'm new and need help

Hello everyone.I finally became a member after lurking for so long.I admire the way everyone takes care of their hair.We used to live in AZ,but live in NC now and the humidity is terrible on my daughter and my hair.I'm a 3C and she's a 3B-C.I don't know if our products quit working because of the humidity here in NC or what? I'm using Paul Mitchell the Conditioner in my daughter's hair after her bath(actually the generic kind) and her hair use to do fine the next day,but now it's tangling up.If anyone has any suggestions to try new products(preferably SAlly Beauty or drugstore brands),it would greatly be appreciated. Also, what type of routine should I follow after her bath.I want her to look nice at school with her hair. Thanks so much

potion 9 is a great leave in i really like it also you could make your own products and deep treatments like i am trying to make a DT out of shea butter avocado butter and a few oils. and so far its ok but not great but i think i am getting the ratios right cause yesterday my hair had alot of slip .but anyway also you could try using shealoe you get it from From Nature With Love it is really good for defing curls i hear they have a thread in the 4a board about it thats all i have to say lol.

you might want to look in the young curlys thread. also, your water might be harder or softer in your new area. Tigi moisture maniac gives pretty good slip.

Hey there!

I live in NC too. The humidity is a beast here so that's probably it. I have learned to live with big hair, though now I'm so short I don't have that problem...for now...anyway.

I would recommend Elasta QP products, extra virgin cocnut oil and just recently I have discovered Aubrey Organics Island Naturals (shampoo and conditioner), and MOP (Modern Organics Products) Leave -in conditoner.

I have 3b/c hair. The Elasta products can be bought at Sally's. The coconut oil and Aubrey Organics from a health foods store such as the Vitamin Shoppe or Whole Foods, and the MOP can be found at some Target stores or Ulta. Any one of those should help with the frizzies, especially with naturally curly hair.

I second Curlilocs on the Elasta QP especially the Mango Butter. I also use MOP leave-in.

Thanks so much to everyone who replied. I will have to try different products. It's amazing how her staple for years was VitalCare gel the orange or purple and it worked and kept her hair soft and frizz-free.Wal-Mart used to sell it and I no longer see it there.Where can I fond this MOP conditioner and can it be left-in the hair?

Depending where you live you can find MOP at ULTA or some Target stores. It is a leave-in, but it is thick and creamy. My hair dries as close to frizz free as it can get with this stuff. HTH!
