curl activator gels

I was wondering how many have used these. I always thought of these being used only if you had a jeri curl. But I guess it can be used on natural curls because by using it your still reaching for the same goal of curl and moisture. Has anyone had experiences using curl activator gel.
1. What kind did you use?
2. How did it work for you?

I use Smooth N Shine Curl Gel Activator. I can get the same effect with Aloe Vera Gel, but once my hair dries it gets frizzy. So I stick with the Gel Activator. I find that the activator leaves my hair shinier & keeps my curls (clumps) together better. The glycerin in it takes forever to dry but it's a great moisturizer so I don't mind. Oh and it's not a drippy type of wet, like you would imagine a jheri curl.

I want to call Smooth N Shine my HG but I don't think I've been on my PJ hunt long enough. I've heard S Curl is a good one also. But S N S was the first one I saw & tried & liked, so I haven't tried anyone else.

Cool. I will try it. I will always go for moisture. The one good thing about the extra moisture is it promotes growth, from what I remember when my aunt had a jheri curl back in the day. The curls used to grow like weeds.

I use curl activator gel and what i love about it is that i don't have to use a leave-in. It's very moisturizing, and i don't have to worry about crunchies or dryness. My favorite brands are smooth 'n shine and new life curl activator gel. I always like to experiment with different products especially gels and i always come back to using curl activator because i hate crunchy hair.
I use the Smooth and Shine also. When I was still transitioning and used this on my wash and gos my hair would dry with nice clumps and have ALOT of body. I have used it since I BC'ed too, it seems to work the same for my natural hair too...minus the movement since it's so short now
Thanks ladies. Yall rock. I think I have found my HG. I started putting it over my ck. and add a lil fantasia to the activator gel for extra hold and it is fantastic! My hair has such great curls with moisture and shine. Thank you sooooooooooo much.

I use Proclaim Curl and Wave Activator gel. It's clear and doesn't drip and I use water on it.It can be bought in 10.5 and 32oz. tubs at Sally's.You can get it for $2.99 and every other month, you can get it for $1.99 and I'm talking about the 32oz. tub. It's moisturizing but doesn't help with shrinkage though.

I tried the Smooth n Shine curl activator for the first time yesterday and it came out pretty good. My hair was definitely moisturized and shiney. It does take forever to dry and it is a little gooey and sticky but that will keep your hands out of your hair for sure .
It is not a drippy mess though so that's good, not like what we think of when we think of an activator. It is cheap and we like cheap...... .

I did use a little of Qhemet's Olive Cream before applying the activator and shingling.

ive used curl activators my entire life. the only thing i found that i dislike is that they can be gooey and sticky. infact, becuase of this growing up all the little kids use to swear i had a jeri curl. i have tried not using the activator gels, and using just regular gels, but they gave me major 'crunch' and by the middle of the day, my hair was frizzy, and dry. does anyone know of any gels that provide the needed moisture, and shine, without so much gooeyness, and sticky feel?
God Bless!! LaShunda
Wanted to give an update.....

I put the curl activator in on friday morning, it was a little sticky and gooey til it dried but great results. I did nothing this weekend so I was just laying around and did nothing to my hair, I do sleep with a satin bonnet though. So Sunday around 5pm I took a shower, rinsed my hair and decided to see if I could comb through it.....OMG.....there were very few tangles and the comb through was easy. I did use Qhemets Olive Cream Detangler under the activator so that had to help.

I had a great looking afro today, very soft and fluffy .
