Default HG?

Hello Everyone,

My hair turned out fabulous today and I wanted to share what I did. Simplicity is my game, so I wanted to find a simple combination that worked. I love Shea Butter, but it is very difficult to work with in it's raw form as a single hair conditioner. It can be whipped to make things easier, but it's still thick and I find it needs a little time to really sink in my hair. So I bought some Aubrey Organic Replenishing Shampoo and Conditioner, washed my hair, then conditioned (which detangled my hair wonderfully), rinsed a tiny bit (left most of it in), then took about a quarter size amount of shea butter and gently and patiently spread it through my curls. I let it air dry and the results were fabulous. My hair still had it's volume but it dried in large, moist looking clumps of defined curls. And it is so soft. The best part about it is no gel, mousse, cream, or anything. Just the conditioner and shea butter. I only wash once every 10 days or so, so I will just be using the conditioner and shea butter. The shampoo was good, felt like it really cleaned my hair and scalp and my hair really drank the conditioner. I gotta say I have never been as happy with my hair results and I have today. Have I found my HG finally? I hope so!

Congrats on having a good hair day!!

I love shea butter too! Especially as a body moisturizer.

I've found that using shea butter products make my curls bigger/clumpier as well(I've used Kemi Oyl She Butter Pomade). I haven't tried styling it with just pure shea butter, but I can probably give it a try once I take my twists out.

Hey Shyygirl,

I probably should have said I used Aubrey Organics because I saw a couple of posts with you talking about it. It is a great product and I like that the ingredients are so good and it's cheaper than the salon stuff that I was trying for awhile. Also, you were definately right about my ends. The conditioner detangled wonderfully, but at the ends it struggled a little bit. So I really looked at my hair and the ends do need a trim as far as I can tell. So I owe you 2 Thank Yous! I too have tried products with shea butter in them, but nothing seems to work as well for me and shea in it's raw form. Even today I am looking at my hair and it still looks good and feels soft.

Urbancurl,

I see you want to reduce volume and frizz. The shea butter definately stops my frizz, but doesn't reduce my volume. Maybe using more than a quarter size amount would. If your interested, the best shea butter I have ever found is from http://www.nasabb.com/. They sell raw, unrefined shea butter. And it lasts forever. Hope this helps.

GabbyC,

Thanks, that site has great info on shea butter! I might (might? I know I will once I let myself out of PJ jail w/ Curltopia!) try their brand, as I've never tried it raw or whole before.

Hey Urbancurl,

I'm glad I was useful. Another tip: After a few days of using the shea butter, I am able to skip a day. I think eventually it will get to the point where I can do it once every few days or once a week and still have the same results. If you experiment with this let me know how it goes!
