Pacific-

Beautiful, beautiful new pictures! Your hair is laying really well, which showcases your curls even better IMHO. I see growth as well. Lookin' really good

Thanks for all the compliments! It helps on those days I'm eyeing the scissors

It is laying down nice isn't it? I'm so stoked about that, because its making life easier. I guess its the weight of the new length? It also seems like I'm useing more product these days, because I've found a no-crunch routine finally, so I can get away with it.

Kimberly j-

Routine.

I rinse or co wash every day right now. I could have 2nd day hair some days, but I have scalp problems so I can't get away with it. ACV once a week. I'm useing jojoba oil right now but Avacado oil worked even better

Rinse.
-put blob of Trader Joe's Aloe Vera gel on top of head
-hit with water again so that it runs all over scalp (this step is mostly to help with my skin)
-Sqeeze in blob of Trader Joe's Nourish conditioner (I'm sure there is better stuff out there, but I'm cheap)
-Squeeze in big blob of Suave mega gel+jojoba oil (+Redken Ringlet)
-Rake through hair, then sqeeze again

Then I get out of the shower

-Sqeeze in small blob of Curlfriends 2 leave-in
-Mix gel, jojoba oil, cold water in hand and smooth over top to help with frizz
-Mix gel and leave-in in hand and rake through bottom layer (to help with length, since its the curliest).
-Shake head to make sure I don't look slimed. Done.

LOL, it doesn't take as long as it sounds!

Sorry if you already answered this question! I was too lazy to read all the other posts! (Gave me curl envy LOL)
LOL! I can't remember if I answered this question already either! And I'm too lazy to reread all the older posts too. I definitly cut in layers... I had triangle head for the longest time. OMG my driver's license makes me want to scream. Thank goodness it expires soon. The poor guy taking the picture had the hardest time fitting my whole head in the shot. Anyway what am I talking about? Hair cutting! Truth be told I have a pretty rotten memory and I don't quite remember how I did it, except that it took me a couple of days and I cut it curl by curl untill the edge was totoally off the triangle. I think I just kept cutting the layers further and further in untill I liked it. DH lets me cut his 2a hair and I don't have that quite down yet. Luckily he could care less.

You gave me courage. I'm gonna try it. I'm so scared of cutting too much, but maybe if I go very, very slowly and spread it over several days, it will go well! I just SO want my length back!!! I'm also scared that since my hair is so curly underneath, and not so much on top, that it will look *really* short if I cut too much of the top layer. Oh well....nothing to it but to do it, I guess.

Hey this is how my hair is too! Its much curlier underneath. If you cut in layers, people finally see the tight curls. I got A LOT of double takes. Definitly do the cutting bone dry, and over like 3 days, with washings inbetween. You should be able to cut the layers in without touching the length of the bottom.... if yours is like mine there is no use trying to get the bottom "even" anyway. Good luck!

Thank you!!! I have their routines posted in the Kid's forum in the "post your updated routines here" thread started by Enrica. LOL, they are sort of long. The pictures of the kids are at least a year old, but my routines for them haven't changed too much.

Go to Curl 411 up to in the orange headings. Click on hair types, and there will be a chart with pictures and descriptions of the different curl type. I goes according to curls size and a little into texture. Find where you fit there. You may not fall completely into one category because many women have a mix, but its a great start!

Default Figured it out

Okay, so I figured out what I am as far as my hair goes. This is so great! I am pretty much alone where I live and whenever I go to the hair salon I get all the stylists and the patrons in feeling my hair and going "oh, my gosh, you have got to see this! I have never seen hair like this before! Oh wow!!!" It gets a little annoying, frustratin and embarrassing. I have spent my entire life hating and fighting my hair and now I just need help to work WITH it and not against it.

Anyway, back on topic; it appears that I am a 3C and a 4A, more 3C than 4A though.
So now what...

I have my step-sons wedding coming up in May ans I would really like to have nice looking hair for once. Any ideas? I am still reeling over this wedding to go to; I am only 31!!!

Perhaps I should start my own topic about this....

Good luck with wedding...can't wait to see your new topic...

Updated.

This bites. If you compare the pics you can see that it looks kinda crummy compared to this spring. And its not really any longer. Maybe my hair will never look good again. . At least I have photographic proof that it was pretty nice for a year or so.

I agree with this.
