I used to have that same problem with most gels when trying to use a leave-in under them. But I found that my hair has a hard time with the carbomer (thickener) or whatever plastic that the cheaper ones use. They all would make my hair hard or crispy. Now if they use a more natural thickener like Xanthan Gum, Guar Guar..., Sodium Polyacrylate, then I was fine and my hair would be very soft without any effort. I know that AOMM has a natural thickener in it. Just an FYI.

All of this talk about gel reminds of when I combined my gel and serum into one product and I had goeyness throughout my hair. I went to work like that and it took forever to wash out. My hairdresser suggested that I do it, but then he is the same guy that shorn me, even though I didn't have the self-esteem to handle it.

I feel so honored because people have asked me for hair advice. I actually know what I'm talking about. Thanks you guys!

Thanks Subbrock for explaining the difference between APL and BSL.

rt: I just spent $9 on some sample sized miss jessies. if this stuff doesn't work, I will be mad as hell. if it does, well then I guess I'll just jump on the bandwagon.

rt2: I would love to find a sample size of kccc/knot today. would it be wrong to use my beauty editor contact to get some? meh.

rt3: when you pay for it, you get a say. until then, fall back and be easy/tia.

Hey,

I was just browsing through all the different posts on this website and I got a really funny thought. All we write about is which leave in works better etc,etc...

What in the world would we do or look like if all of a sudden we ended up in this world with absolutely
NO LEAVE-IN CONDITIONERS & NO GEL?

What would we have to do cause I know I wouldn't want to see myself in the mirror. LOL!!!

Well just a thought.

Evey, the reason why my mom relaxed my hair 27 yrs ago is because there were no gels, leave-in's, good conditioners. I know what my hair would look like... SCARY

I just had a random flash back to 3rd grade...

I remember I used to wear a press and curl but I wanted curly hair. so one day before school, i went to the bathroom, shampooed my bangs, put conditioner on it, rinsed it out, then but more conditioner and left it in, and then followed with a WHOLE lot of hair grease.....and voila, I had curly bangs! When i got on the school bus, all of the girls were asking how i made my hair curly. I tried to explain, but they thought it was too much of a process. Once i got to school, my bangs were shrunken up to my hairline. not a good look: curly shrunken bangs and a press and curl ponytail :-)

I suppose I was a curly girl in the making though!

MissMonie-- you made me think back to third grade
It was the time of the 80s perm and hairspray. Well, I didn't realize that I still had curly hair; I knew that I did when I was a baby but thought that I had outgrew it. One day, I wet my hair and sprayed a half bottle of Aquanet on it. And voila I had Julia Roberts' pretty hair in Pretty Woman -- except mine was crunchy. You could actually hear it crunch. I then applied bright red lipstick and went to cathechism (sp?). All of the older kids looked at me as if I were crazy. The kids in my class thought I was cool. Three weeks later my hair was dried out. I didn't realize that I was supposed to apply conditioner when I wet my hair every day like that.

I love wash-n-go weather!

THis morning I washed and conditioned my hair, but in some leave in and gel and walked straight out the door. No blow drying no plopping... just me and my clumpy wet hair riding to work with the windows down

The ends were dry enough by 10 for me to pull them apart... unfortunately the roots are still damp. It would be nice if my hair would completely air dry by the end of the day...

Bare Minerals was the first makeup line i started wearing exclusively on my face, and I liked it, but the second year into it, the silica in it started making my face hella itchy. I still pull it out every now and then, but I use MAC studiotech now with the 187 brush for light coverage. I love it. Seriously, if anyone has any makeup questions feel free to PM me cause I am a makeup lady of the night (to put it euphemistically) lmao.

Oh, for anyone who has what they consider trouble skin, I've recently found the cheapest best investment ever. http://sallybeauty.com/on/demandware...pid=SBS-491502A facial brush. Get rid of your other exfoliants and just use this brush with a soft cleanser (I'm using CO bigelow gentle cleanser). I was ready to tear my skin off it was so broke out, but a week after I started using this, I noticed an incredible difference.

Haha Maria had hair boogers. that's hilarious. lol.

Alright for my curly thoughts: I'm really excited to finally have found a solid routine that produces consistently great results. While KCCC was good before, I get HG results now. What's even better is that it works well with other products as well.

In a couple of weeks I'm going home and am the Maid of Honor for one of my BF's wedding. I'm straightening my hair and getting it trimmed (by her cause she's a hair stylist lol) Idk how much I'm getting trimmed but it's much needed and I hope I can finally start retaining some length and stop picking in my frggin hair.

rt: my day 1 and day 2 hair was sooooo pretty. day 3? yeahhh not so much. I really want to learn to stretch this because washing/styling is not my cup of tea.

rt2: I bought my rollers and my saran wrap and my lacio lacio leave in. going to try to set and wrap my hair this weekend. of course I pick the weekend where I have to look nice for work to do it, but I am really thinking its going to come out super nice.

rt3: cold water rinsing is NOT for the faint of heart.

Pulling on soft curls all day + no holding gel/product= ridiculous frizz and tangles.

I mean, you would think I would have learned that equation by now...nope.

Well, back to playing in my hair! (i'm hopeless)

Thumbs up

I think I'm starting to get the hang of my hair!

Last night I put my hair in 3 big twists (one on each side, one in the back) with aloe gel and jojoba oil, let it set overnight in a silk scarf, and undid the twists in the AM.. my hair looked like a mess when I uncoiled the twists. Some parts were straight, others were wavy/curly and the ends were kinda frizzy.

Thankfully I live a half a block from my job so I just went home, wet my hair, combined an equal amount of Tresemme, jojoba, and LA Looks gel into it, did about 7 or 8 big chunky twists, let it air dry, and now I have bouncy shiny non-crunchy curls.. first time ever in my life.

What I was messing up on before was not applying my products on soaking wet hair.. I used to towel dry and THEN apply. It's all those little fine points that I still have to learn.. and now after a month or so of being on this forum.. finally I GET it!

Ooh and I plopped too.. hehe

Unhappy

I have Henna on my hair while I am watching HGTV. I stained my shirt and my shoulder has drying henna all over it. I love to sit here and pick at it... reminds me of the fun times picking my scabs when I had a relaxer
This stuff is so heavy on my head. It feels like a soothing mud bath except not so much.

I just realized that I'm at home on watching HGTV on a Friday night. I hate my life.

What's AOMM? I used Garnier two more times, figured I'd get my money's worth anyway. It was still drying out my hair unfortunately, but sans the hairboogers cuz I didn't add the Kid's Organics leave-in.

As I was waiting for the Henna to be done killing my greys I decided to watch Snakes On a Plane and bake BBQ chicken at the same time LOL The wings came out finger lickin good! The movie was probably the WORST Samuel L Jackson movie I've ever seen! My son and I kept laughing and I think it wasn't supposed to be a comedy
