Default Argh...DTīs are not for me!

It seems that when I DT it just doesnīt work. Is is only me? Am I doing something wrong?

Last Saturday I mixed coconut oil and aloe. Then washed it with conditioner, then put some flax seed gel with glycerin. when my hair dried, it just looked poofy and dry.

Other times Iīve used olive oil, papaya, mango, honey DTs and they just donīt sit well on my hair.

Iīm frustrated

I'm not sure why these aren't working for you?? How exactly are you using these DT formulations?

As I just posted on Heather Nicole's thread, I've been experimenting with DTs lately and just loving the results. Here is what I do - maybe it can work for you?

- Use 1 heavy moisturizing product or mix several ingredients and products.

- If mixing or using oils, warm the concoction for 15 seconds in the microwave.

- Apply to dry or damp hair and leave in for at least 2 hours.

- Heat optional.

- Plastic cap recommended if you used drippy things.

- After rinsing, just apply a dab of a creamy leave-in and nothing else. You shouldn't need other stylers after a good DT. Just revel in the moisturized and happy hair

Curltopia,

After DT, do you wash your hair off with conditioner? Two weeks ago I rinsed it off with just water, and my hair turned out very greasy.

Last week I rinsed it off with conditioner only and when it dried it looked all poofy.

I donīt have a leave-in conditioner. Will leaving some conditioner on after showering do it?

Actually, I use some Jessicurl Hair Cleansing Cream to remove all of the oils and heaviness. Then, I might lightly condition after or just skip the conditioning all together because my hair is already really soft at that point - depends on where I am going after I rinse it out and how long I've left it in. I think that you are missing the step of properly removing the DT. If you don't have Jessicurl HCC, you can also use Devacurl Low Poo or any gentle, no- or low-sulfate cleanser.

Try this and let us know if it solves your problem

PS. SYB - Hey right back at you :P

Yes, that will do the trick. A little dab of regular conditioner can usually serve as a leave-in. I use separate products, but then I am an incorrigible PJ

Last week I did a papaya, olive oil and honey DT. Rinsed it out gently with Avalon shampoo and conditioned a little bit. Then put some gel.

Since these days have been with a lot of rain and humidity, my hair got very frizzy and took a looong time to dry. Although I have to say that my hair feels soft and my ends feel less dry.

Colocha-

That sounds better than before! Maybe with different combinations, you will land on one that is just right for you.
