Default Hair Mayonnaise

Has anyone tried this by ORS? I used it the other day because my hair was still looking very dry and twisted my hair all up, went to sleep and whenI woke up my hair looked really good. It looked moisterized and shiny. I wonder if I could use it everyday as a leave-in with Elucence?

I LOVE ORS hair mayonnaise and I use it all the time as a DT - I love how it makes my hair feel so silky. And I love the smell.

I wouldn't use it every day because it has protein (egg protein and I can't remember what else) and I think it might be too much protein. It's also so thick it might not feel/look good in the hair over time.

Do you CG? If so, this has cones. (I don't so I don't care.)

For me, I think ORS is best mixed with olive oil, applied with heat, left overnight and rinsed, then leave Elucence and olive oil in, and the silky feel will last 2 or 3 days. You could DT more than once a week with it if you really need to/like the effects, but I don't know if it would be safe as a leave-in. If you do try and it works, let me know!

I'm curious about how well this works as a regular leave-in too. I tried leaving some hair mayo in once, and it seemed to weigh down my hair a bit.

Question: Is there a big difference btw ORS and othe brands of hair mayo? I was cheap and got the Africa's Best brand (less than half the price of ORS), but after all the good reviews, I'm tempted to splurge on ORS.

I believe Africa's Best has mineral oil. I would use ORS better ingredients. Speaking of ORS, I still can't find this hair mayonnaise! I am planning to go to NYC in a few weeks. I am pretty sure that I'll be able to find it!

Thanks! I still have a big tub of the Africa's Best mayo, but I think I'll add the ORS to my collection.

Ladydncing: I know I've seen the ORS hair mayo at Ricky's (beauty supply chain store in NY), but I"m sure lots of other places carry it too.

Hmmm, this afternoon, I just bought what I thought was the ORS brand. But looking at the jar, it says Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise. I guess it's not the same? I'll give it a try since there is no mineral oil in it though.

Oh... wait, is that what ORS means? LOL, I guess I'm a little behind on the curly girl acronyms!

Thanks Susu, my sister works not far from Ricky's in NYC maybe she can pick up a jar for me.

BanjoCurl, I will be there in 2 weeks for a wedding. No haircut till April. That's my new hair challenge. Maybe then I'll finally be brave to also treat myself to Pintura Highlights! I guess I better start saving my pennies now.

PixelGirl,

ORS means Organic Hair Stimulator, it's the brand name of the hair mayonnaise. HTH

I have been using ORS as a leave in off and on since 1999 and have had no problems. I love this stuff and just started using it again a couple of months ago after stopping last year. I used this as a leave in with some ORS Carrot Oil as a moisturizer and a little mousse for years, the first time I went natural.

Amneris, I never thought to mix ORS w/ Olive oil for a DT. Thanks for the idea, I'll definantly be trying that.
