Please help! :(

I'm...kind of comfortable with my hair being as tightly curled as it is. I've worn it down only occasionaly, and ONLY recently have I begun to embrace it more than hate it. I like the fact that I have different hair and I'm not the local bleach blonde, straight haired ditz like so many at my school. I'd rather not look like a barbie doll.

But I used to have straight hair when I was younger, as soon as puberty (gr.) hit, it scrunched up to little ringlets and frizzy, oh lord yes! It's calmed down a bit as far as frizz, but now I'm indecisive. I really want more elongated, gentle curls, more wavy like. A lot of people compliment me when I wear my hair down and that they like my hair and stuff but I still...don't like it as much as I'd want to. oO;

You can see I have a bit of a problem here. So my big question is if there is an easily accessible styling product or a method that could help pull my hair down and make it smoothe? (Currently it's kind of coarse. xx;)

And yes, I'm a newb. So please be gentle as far as terms go. I don't know the acronyms that are used here so you're going to have to..spell everything out or explain what it means. <3 Much love if you can help me.
You've come to the right place, these ladies are great! Do you have any photos of your hair to post? That might help them to get a better idea as to what advice to give.

unfortunately no, i don't. xx; all i can say is that it's ringlets. fairly tight, that could fit around a pinkie.
If you really hate it, you can always get a relaxer or a texturizer. But I'll bet it's very pretty and unique, and I think you be foolish to ruin a good thing. Curltopia (I think) started a thread about how to loosen your curl pattern...on 3b, I guess. Have you tried clips or shingling (you can do a search on the above search button) or braid-outs, etc? What products do you use?

There's honestly not that much you can do to elongate your curls from 3c to 2b without chemicals or a lot of effort. You could try braid-outs but it won't necessarily look smooth, consistent, or frizzless, especially as the day goes on. You could also try shingling with Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding if you really want to put in the effort.
Your hair sounds pretty; maybe wearing it out more will help you to love it more? and when I leave in some conditioner and add gel, it tends to weigh my hair down a little and makes the curls shinier. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. Pics would help a lot.

I think that what you need is a great, stylish haircut. Every hair texture will look beautiful if it is healthy and has a great shape. Looking way back before my texturizer, a year and a half ago, I can see that all that I needed was a great cut.

By great, I mean a master haircut. You can call around to salons asking if they have any master stylists there. If they don't know what you're talking about, they don't have one. You can expect the cost to be about $100, but it will be worth it.
