There are a couple of us CG's who feel there is yet another sub-type of hair, one that is inbetween 3a and 3b.

I think the other CG (dang, can't remember her username off hand! sorry!) is calling herself a 3a and a half!

-3A?
-Fine, ii (almost iii) thickness
-salon pintura and natural sun-made highlights combo
-CG since October 2007, rare occasional low poo.
-Growing it out

Thanks - I think I am somewhere around a 3.33 haha
I think I'm a 3 B, but I'm not absolutely sure. Do you think I might be more 3 A? I'm going to start CG soon, so my hair's not really that shiny or healthy. It's so frizzy, I feel embarassed posting pics. Can you tell me what you think it is?

Here's my hair with scrunching mousse in it (it's dry)

And here's my hair after being wet and then drying naturally. (I think it's been in a ponytail which is why it's kind of smooth at the top.)

3A, medium fine. Currently avoiding shampoos, 'cones, 'xanes and sulfates. Hair length - a bit beyond BSL. Mostly CG since July 2, 2008.

Rose J, I'm not really sure - still trying to learn these categories myself. Your hair doesn't look frizzy.

th1, I think we may have a similar curl. I like the 3B.5 category.

Everyone, gorgeous hair!

You all are gooooorgeous! How does everyone get their hair so long? I've always wanted mine really long, but it seems to just stop at my shoulder blades. Mine gets really pyramid-y if I don't get layers cut in every so often. I'd like it so much more if it wasn't so poofy. Any suggestions?

p.s. my hair looks haggard in these pictures... which is why I NEVER wear it down!!!

Maybe you could tell your stylist you are trying to grow your hair out and you want to maintain the layers without taking off much length. The longer your hair gets, it will naturally thin out towards the ends and won't pyramid as bad. Have you tried going CG?

I just found this website by chance, trying to find products for curly hair that actually work. I had no idea about all of this, a bit overwhelmed. If you don't mind could you guys give me a few tips. I unfortunately just cut my hair off into a bob a few months ago. Now it is at an awkward length and I don't know how to fix it, my hair is 3a I think. Could you tell me products that would work best for me. Sorry I posted here, you all have such beautiful curls.I just thought you could help.
Thank you,
Heather
okay let's try that again. I am new to the site (obviously) and am fairly certain I have 3B curls. Here is a pre-CG pic, and I will post another once my hair has acclimated to the new routine.

i know its a very myspace-y picture, but its the best i can do at the moment, till i get some new pictures lol
Before going CG, I thought I was a 3b, but now I'm not sure. Is it just my hair getting used to it?

Sorry if the picture's big. :/

Do you guys ever get the random noodles of curls with filler underneath? I don't usually... is this normal?

Well i think im a 3b?

Here are are my 3a/b's. However, looking at all of these pics, I'm beginning to think there's nothing 3a about my curls after all. My curl pattern and volume seem more 3b-ish. Hmmmm....

3a/b, auburn haired, BIG, coarse and frizz prone.

My hair hates:
Curl Keeper
Anything with lots of protein
AOHR

Things that work:
Aveda Flaxseed and Aloe Gel
Aveda Phomollient
BRHG!
Giovanni 50/50 Balanced Condish
KCCC and KCKT (Found my HG combo!)
DevaCurl Angell
LOOB
L'Oreal Melting Gel
