I agree! And Curltastic, I visited your blog. It is wonderful! I have hair kinda similar to yours (in the longer length picture) though I don't think mine would do the same things if it is as short as yours. Lovely big fat curls you have! There are a couple of us CG's who feel there is yet another sub-type of hair, one that is inbetween 3a and 3b.
I think the other CG (dang, can't remember her username off hand! sorry!) is calling herself a 3a and a half!

What hair type am I?
I think I'm a 3 B, but I'm not absolutely sure. Do you think I might be more 3 A? I'm going to start CG soon, so my hair's not really that shiny or healthy. It's so frizzy, I feel embarassed posting pics. Can you tell me what you think it is?
Here's my hair with scrunching mousse in it (it's dry)
And here's my hair after being wet and then drying naturally. (I think it's been in a ponytail which is why it's kind of smooth at the top.)

Rose J, I'm not really sure - still trying to learn these categories myself. Your hair doesn't look frizzy.
th1, I think we may have a similar curl. I like the 3B.5 category.
Everyone, gorgeous hair!

ahh so jealous!
You all are gooooorgeous! How does everyone get their hair so long? I've always wanted mine really long, but it seems to just stop at my shoulder blades. Mine gets really pyramid-y if I don't get layers cut in every so often. I'd like it so much more if it wasn't so poofy. Any suggestions?
p.s. my hair looks haggard in these pictures... which is why I NEVER wear it down!!!

I think your hair looks great, not haggard at all! I guess the keys to growing it longer is stop cutting it and treat it gently. I know you mentioned feeling the need to cut in layers. Maybe you could tell your stylist you are trying to grow your hair out and you want to maintain the layers without taking off much length. The longer your hair gets, it will naturally thin out towards the ends and won't pyramid as bad. Have you tried going CG?

wow
I just found this website by chance, trying to find products for curly hair that actually work. I had no idea about all of this, a bit overwhelmed. If you don't mind could you guys give me a few tips. I unfortunately just cut my hair off into a bob a few months ago. Now it is at an awkward length and I don't know how to fix it, my hair is 3a I think. Could you tell me products that would work best for me. Sorry I posted here, you all have such beautiful curls.I just thought you could help.
Thank you,
Heather

wow......awesome hair
Seems like each ringlet has a mind of its own. I think its great. I like the color too. You look like a 3b to me. Because supposedly 3a would not curl from the top like yours.

Here are are my 3a/b's. However, looking at all of these pics, I'm beginning to think there's nothing 3a about my curls after all. My curl pattern and volume seem more 3b-ish. Hmmmm....
