My first pix
Okay, please remember: I need a haircut (this was cut to be worn blown straight). I have been CG for all of 13 hours. I am growing out a Thermal Reconditioning (note the straightness at the lower third WHICH I HAVE TO CURL WITH AN IRON ). And I am still very new to testing products.
Oh, and if you MUST laugh, please turn away from your monitor

DON'T FEEL BAD! you are on the right track
i have been there for sure! i cut my hair into the short layerd front look where you feather the front (farrah fawcett style)
like this without the bangs

then i chemically straightened it then bleached it!
i searched for pics but couldn't find any but here is me in transition
(this was about 3 years ago??)

oh and i have only been cg for 2 or 3 months so don't worry it helps alot very quickly!

WOW.
That is seriously some of the most gorgeous hair I've ever seen. The curls, as well as the color. Wow.
I haven't taken pics in a long while, so maybe tomorrow I'll take some and post later. My hair seems to be in an unhappy spell, though.

Gee girls, bearing in mind that my hair is in transition (dry, damaged, growing out process and needs to detox from cones and poo) can you tell me now if I am 3a or b?? Those photos show me with product in and at the end of a long day that included lying in bed with my little one at bedtime. Plus the under layers are more traditional curly curls.

From what I see *now* it looks 2c/3a range. But, as you said, you are in transition so I have no idea what your genetic potential is as far as hair typing goes. It may take some time to see as you transition. Have you hit the transition boards? The folks there are a great help in the transitioning process.
Cg can bring out curl potential too. I had lots of less curly days like these while using lots of cones.

rcc: i freakin love your hair! i never realized it was so long (i guess cause i just see you in the avatar pic...)
rudee: going cg i have noticed healthier hair (more balanced, less friz, just healthy looking!) its also softer and tangles less? also retains moisture much better!

Misfitcurls, it's a few inches shorter now, but still has some decent length. I had 3 inches cut in January, but I'm sure I've grown some of that back by now, lol. I keep the face area a bit shorter so I don't get too bogged down.
We do have fairly similar hair!

Ok, Im hoping other people put there pics up because I love looking at their hair! I think Im a 3b but Im not sure? All I know is that I want my hair to curl on the top layer.
I have been cg for about 3 weeks now, have noticed less frizz but nothing dramatic. Reading the posts I have just realised that I didn't clarify before starting! Does this mean I should clarify now and sort of carry on?
BTW-everyones hair on here is just gorgeous! Im not jealous at all lol!
Sorry the images are so small, I dont know how you post them larger.

Here are a few recent pics of my hair:
Misfit and RCC, I LOVE your hair! Both the curls and the color are gorgeous!!
Rudee, it is hard to tell what your hair is since you've not been CG very long. When I first started CG, I thought my hair was 2C/3A. The longer I am CG, the curlier my hair gets.
Here's a pic before CG:

I'm more of a 3a/3b combo, but it turns into 3b on a good hair day. It really depends on how much effort I put into it. I don't diffuse, just plop and air dry. I'm sure if I used a diffuser I could get some tighter, better formed curls. I just don't want to take the extra time and effort for it. I'm too lazy.
I'll go ahead and post a few pics though.....
my sig on hairboutique.com's forum
from 2004 (a really good hair day)
from 2006
from 2007
I keep meaning to get a pic of my bangs curly, but haven't done it yet...
I'm not completely a CG, but I do follow alot of the rules because they're much the same for very long hair (straight or curly). For me, the challenge is to maintain a balance between length and curl quality, and deciding which is more important.

That's part of why I never get below mid back. I get sick of the curl drag and cut it. I wish i could have the clumping and curl formation of my hair at shoulder length, but have it be waist length. It just doesn't work that way for me.
ibraidhair, your pics are lovely. It's always good to see a longhair keep her curls.
