Texture Change/Wet to Dry?

Okay, I'm confused I see many people whose hair when wet looks like a 3c but when it dries it looks like a 4a texture. Does this make them a 4a or 3c. I am as well confused about my hair type. I'm not sure whether Im a 3c or a 4a or even a 3b! Because my hair dries terribly weird. So what can I use or do to keep my hair from drying so different from my wet texture?
Thanks,
Confused and curly

From what I understand, your hair type is determined by how it looks while dry without any product in it. This is because shrinkage is a major factor.

My hair looks like its 3c when wet but when its dry without any product it looks like the attached pic below (which is 4a).

You are probably 4a, but I would have to see photos to know for sure.

Congratulations on your BC!

Don't pay too much attention to the hair typing. Nobody fits in one category. My hair can look 3c-4b depending on what I do, don't do, brush it, use an afro pick, what products I apply...

I don't think there is too much of a difference between 3c/4a hair. My hair is extremely moody and can look different almost every day. I can only speak for myself and I know that my hair has different textures and is dry in certain spots. My youngest daughter and I both have 3c hair, but mine is more course and her hair is more fine.

I hope I confused you some more LOL j/k

i agree with what everyone has said so far.
when my hair is soaking wet its wavy but when it dries it shrinks up and then turns to classic 3c curl pattern.
what products do you use? maybe you could try a gel or something for hold/definition...
I use Joico Shampoo and Conditioner and a few days ago when I got my lc/bc my stylist told me to start using Redken Smoothing Cream to style my hair. But see when it drys its like I have 3c curls and inbetween my corkscrews I have 4a pieces...its really weird! What gels do you recommend? Oh, and do you know where to get this Fantasia IC gel everyone talks about?

i would recommend any aloe vera gel. ive gotten fantasia ic gel anywhere--cvs, walmart, grocery stores, etc.

After washing, conditioning and detangling, I put my hair in a bun or two braids. Once its dry apply my products and voila , stretched defined curls. Thats been my routine for the last 2 years.

Okay but does your hair get sour smelling? I find that to be my problem when I put my hair up when its wet. Oh and you know the bunning challenge, the one that is supposed to stimulate hair growth. Does it show good results?

I wear my hair in a bun all the time because Im lazy. But I find that I retain length to because it is a protective style. I dont have to comb or mess with my hair everyday, thus there is less of a chance of breakage.

Okay, I will have to try that one day when I have nowhere to go. I'm pretty sure I'll be even curlier than I am now! Oh, and much much much frizzier. If that doesn't happen, I will be in shock...
Oh dont worry my hair would probably much curlier and bigger if I used no products. Right now I have let my hair air dry with one product in it with a light leaven in stregthening spray and my curls definitley look 3c but without my products....well I have never tried that...I havent built up the courage...lol.

Miss Kinky Coily,
you apply the hair milk and ic on your dry hair?
I've used the hair milk and liked it, but it was alot of shrinkage. I think I will try it your way.

I do know that know my hair isnt as big as it used to be when I first started using it. This is because I used to use a lot less (and before I discovered Fantasia).

I sometimes miss the big hair that I used to have (see below).
