Default Help...My Hair!

I'm a 3c everywhere on my head EXCEPT for the crown of my head (4a with lots of 3c mixed in). I'm really excited about this IC gel...however, I'm a bit concerned about the build up that it may cause. Sooo... I have two questions:

1. Can anyone recommend a good clarifying shampoo (one that specifically removes protein build up and other types of build up)

2. Can anyone recommend a good (nothing heavy) leave in conditioner that I can apply to my hair BEFORE I use the IC gel (too chicken to use it alone..).

Also, I like to wash my hair either every day or every other day in the summer ( scuba diver (salt and fresh water...yuk) and I love to remain active (lots of sweating on my scalp). I usually leave some type of Pantene (not sure of the spelling ) conditioner in my hair (probably not a good idea...but when I decide to go straight during the week..my hair looks so healthy and soft) , add some type of oil to it and then I just let it dry. I like curl and definition...HOWEVER, I can't stand it when my hair shrinks. Once my hair drys (air dry in the summer), I usually part it (carefully into sections) and blow dry the root until about the middle of the piece...that works for me.

Any tips or advice would be helpful.

Thanks to all of you that have posted pictures, videos and helpful advice! I feel so motivated by all of you!

I think someone else is using the Pantene before the ICF. Just leave a lot of conditioner in. I'm in love with Chagrin Valley soap bars (not the shampoo bars) as shampoos. They clean without stripping or tangling. Don't think I'll use a shampoo again, unless I'm doing something heavy duty like daily chlorine. Grapeseed and shea, Lemongrass and Marshamallow, shea rose clay -- I don't think I've used a bad one. I really enjoy shampooing my hair and would do it more frequently if I could get away with it.

I recommend the sample bars, only $2.00 and good size. Good customer service too.

Your album is amazing and so informative...this may take me a few hours to go through!!! You look like more of a 3 c then a 4a... Although...judging from my own hair...my hair feels like a 4z if I let it dry without any product in it... I'll check out the soap website now... was totally distracted with your albums and information/weblinks...lol THANKS!
